NFL legend Chad Johnson blasted Wizards star Anthony Davis' reliability after speculation about a trade to the Warriors emerged.

Washington Wizards center Anthony Davis has endured an injury-hit career in recent seasons after being traded by the Los Angeles Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks and then to the Washington Wizards. Chad Johnson Rips Anthony Davis’ Speculated Warriors Move

During Sunday’s segment of the “Nightcap” podcast, NFL legend Chad Johnson questioned Davis’s reliability to any championship-contending team, due to his frequent injury woes over the years.

“It’s cute, but no,” Johnson said. “It sounds good, it looks good on paper, but no. Obviously, we know who LeBron is, we know what he does. Every team that he goes to, he makes them exceptionally better. Even at his age, pairing up with Steph is cool. AD, he’s probably gonna get you 15 games. So, you really can’t count on him.

“I’m not being disrespectful. I’m just being honest, man. I’m just being realistic, that’s something that y’all are not being. We got a bunch of old guys teaming up, and now y’all think that they got a chance out of the West, come on, man.”

Over the years, with the Lakers, Mavericks, and Wizards, Davis has acquired a reputation as one of the most injury-prone stars in the NBA. According to a CBS Sports report, Davis has suffered a staggering 296 injuries across 51 unique body parts in his 14-year NBA career.

According to Kevin O’Connor’s report, any trade deal for Davis would involve sending the injured Jimmy Butler to Washington to make it work.

“A trade for Davis would have to include Jimmy Butler, who is on an expiring $57 million contract while recovering from a torn ACL. The Warriors would also have to include draft capital; they have two future firsts and four first-round swaps to work with in any deal,” O’Connor wrote.

“Sources say the Warriors hope adding Davis would help lure LeBron from Los Angeles to the Bay Area once free agency officially opens Tuesday. The pitch would be simple: reunite with AD, team up with Steph Curry and Draymond Green, play for Steve Kerr, and chase one more championship with a roster of legends.”

After leading the Lakers to a 4-2 NBA Finals win over the Miami Heat in 2020, Davis and James became the first teammates to get first-team All-NBA nods since 2007, before the former was traded to the Mavericks last year.

James has accumulated four championships in his storied career, including two with the Miami Heat, one with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and his latest with Davis in Los Angeles. On the other hand, Curry has been the face of the Warriors’ dynasty that ruled the NBA for a decade.
