‘I’m Rooting for 0-16 Every Season’ — Former Browns QB Gets Brutally Honest About Wanting Cleveland to Struggle

The Cleveland Browns have had some woeful seasons, and a QB who was once a part of their downfalls hopes for continued failure.

After two playoff appearances across six seasons, the Cleveland Browns moved on from two-time NFL Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski this offseason. While the Browns aren’t expected to be a playoff contender right away, there’s a certain level of intrigue brewing in Cleveland under first-year coach Todd Monken.

Of course, the Browns don’t currently have a defined QB1, as Deshaun Watson or Shedeur Sanders are battling for the starting job. While Cleveland’s QB search is a top storyline this offseason, one former Browns quarterback spoke out about how he hopes to see the team fail.

Johnny Manziel Hopes the Browns Never Win

Johnny Manziel was the 22nd overall pick in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Browns. While he won the Heisman Trophy in 2012, the NFL is a different animal, and the 6-foot, 207-pound QB found that out the hard way.

Despite being a first-round pick, Manziel started just eight games across two seasons in Cleveland. He never played another snap for another NFL team, and his career was over after just 14 games and two seasons.

But just because Johnny Football hasn’t actually played in the NFL since 2015, he still has plenty of opinions, especially when it comes to the Browns.

Recently, Manziel caught up with NFL legends Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco, and revealed that he’s rooting for his old team to fail in a big way.

“I’m rooting for 0-16 seasons every season,” Manziel said.

The last team to finish a season winless was actually the 2017 Browns, led by Deshone Kizer. As bad as Manziel’s NFL career went, at least he won a couple of games.

Meanwhile, Kizer, the 52nd overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, never did. He ended his career with a 0-15 record as a starter.

While it may be a bit surprising that Manziel can’t even root for an underdog like former fifth-round pick Shedeur Sanders, it’s not a shock that he wants to see his former franchise fail. The relationship between Manziel and the Browns didn’t exactly end on the best of terms, so his take on his former team isn’t super surprising. Still, it’s a bit sad that the bitterness hasn’t faded, even as a 33-year-old man.
