Having previously captured all three of his career titles at the ATP 250 level, Tiafoe earned the biggest title of his career by emerging victorious at the ATP 500 event.

After a stellar run that included wins over Flavio Cobolli, Sho Shimabukuro, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Daniel Altmaier, Tiafoe capped off his campaign with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Taylor Fritz in the blockbuster final. The triumph made him the first American to win the singles crown in Halle and secured his return to the top 20 in the ATP rankings.
Shelton was quick to share a touching message for Tiafoe, congratulating him on the milestone win.
“First 500 title for my guy @bigfoe1998. Work paying off… happy for you brother 🤞🏽,” Shelton wrote.

Gauff joined Sloane Stephens and Iva Jovic in showing support for the 28-year-old after he celebrated his achievement on social media.

Tiafoe’s girlfriend, Ayan Broomfield, also expressed her pride in his feat after cheering him on from the stands during the final.

Tennis legend Chris Evert added her congratulations, while support also poured in from Tiafoe’s fellow players’ partners. Grigor Dimitrov’s girlfriend Eiza Gonzalez, Sebastian Korda’s fiancée Ivana Nedved, and Matteo Arnaldi’s fiancée Mia Savio all voiced admiration in Broomfield’s comments section.

Despite his disappointment at falling short in the final, Fritz was also delighted for Tiafoe and highlighted their friendship with a touching tribute during his runner-up speech in Halle.
“You played great today, man. Super happy for you. As much as I don’t like you right now, you’re one of my best friends. I’m super happy for you to get the title. You’ve been having a great year, so congrats, dude,” he said.
Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe will both continue their preparations for Wimbledon at one final stop. Fritz will be in action as the top seed at the Eastbourne Open, while Tiafoe will compete at the Mallorca Championships as the No. 3 seed.
