Jared Goff Gets Major Challenge From IShowSpeed’s Dad As YouTuber Links Up With Lions QB at USA’s World Cup Game

QB Jared Goff accepts a bold Super Bowl challenge from IShowSpeed's father, promising a championship run for the Detroit Lions.

While attending the U.S. Men’s National Team’s World Cup opener against Paraguay on Friday night, streamer IShowSpeed watched the match from a suite alongside several athletes and celebrities, including Jared Goff. During a FaceTime call, IShowSpeed’s father, a Detroit native, asked his son to approach the Lions quarterback and issued him a bold challenge for the 2026 NFL season.

IShowSpeed’s Dad Issues Super Bowl Challenge to Jared Goff

“Go win a championship this year, man,” IShowSpeed’s father said over FaceTime.

Goff simply responded, “I got you, I got you.”

IShowSpeed then explained the interaction to his viewers, saying, “My dad called me so I can tell Jared Goff to win a championship for the Detroit Lions… My dad is hilarious.”

The Detroit Lions are currently 1 of 12 NFL franchises that have never won a Super Bowl and 1 of just 4 teams that have never appeared in the big game. However, thanks to Goff, head coach Dan Campbell, and general manager Brad Holmes, the Lions have emerged as legitimate contenders in recent years.

The resurgence began in 2022, during Campbell and Goff’s second season with the organization. Detroit jumped from 3 wins and a last-place finish in the NFC North the previous year to 9 wins and a second-place finish in the division. Meanwhile, Goff had arguably the best season of his career to that point, throwing for 4,438 yards and 29 touchdowns to just 7 interceptions.

The following season, Detroit continued to build on its momentum, improving to 12 wins and claiming its first division title since 1993. It also marked the Lions’ first playoff appearance since 2016. Unfortunately, Detroit fell just short of a Super Bowl berth, losing to the San Francisco 49ers by one score in the NFC Championship Game, but the run gave Lions fans real hope for the first time in decades.

2024 seemed like it would finally be the year. Detroit finished the regular season with a 15-2 record, earning the NFC’s top seed and a first-round bye. However, Jayden Daniels and the red-hot Washington Commanders had other plans, sending the Lions home with a 45-31 upset in the Divisional Round.

2025 was, to put it bluntly, a major step back, as Detroit finished with a 9-8 record and fell to last place in the NFC North. Despite a 34-touchdown season from Goff, an 18-touchdown campaign from Jahmyr Gibbs, and an offense that ranked 8th in PFSN’s Offense Impact metrics, the Lions were unable to secure a third consecutive playoff berth.

Now, in 2026, Goff and the Lions will look to reestablish themselves as contenders and bring a Lombardi Trophy to Detroit for the countless Lions fans who have remained loyal to the franchise through the years.
