Looks like Patrick Mahomes is set to spend the rest of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. The three-time Super Bowl champion has signed an extension with the Chiefs that will keep him with the franchise at least through 2033.
The deal raises the total value of his contract to $504,750,000, making it the first NFL contract to crack the half-billion-dollar mark. It’s another impressive milestone for Mahomes, and the congratulations came rolling in almost immediately.

With incentives and escalators, Mahomes can earn up to $522,250,000. For context, that total value is over $170 million more than the next-highest deal in the league, Josh Allen’s $330 million contract with the Buffalo Bills.
The reactions came fast. Mahomes’ best friend and tight end Travis Kelce, posting under his handle @killatrav, kept it short and loud: “LFG!!!!!” with a string of fire emojis, and that comment pulled in over 1,400 likes.
Tavia Hunt, wife of Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, posted something a little more heartfelt. “That’s our QB1!!” she wrote, going on to express gratitude for Mahomes and his wife, Brittany. “So grateful for you, Britt, and the incredible impact your family continues to have on our team, our city, and this community.”
She closed it out, calling “Chiefs Kingdom is blessed” to have him.
Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who suited up for Kansas City in 2024, didn’t need words and just used a clapping hands emoji to congratulate Mahomes.

Former Chiefs receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster took a slightly more reflective approach. “History Continues,” he posted. Given what Mahomes has already accomplished, three Super Bowl wins and a 95-31 regular season record, that framing feels earned.

Jameis Winston, the New York Giants quarterback, threw up clock and prayer hand emojis, pointing to the idea that this was inevitable.
A deal like this was always coming. It was just a matter of when. Creed Humphrey, the Chiefs’ starting center and one of the men tasked with protecting Mahomes every snap, simply commented: “Yessir!”
Mahomes himself sounded like a man at peace with where he is. “What’s up, Chiefs Kingdom? I’m just so excited to be here for life,” he said. “We have so much more to do, let’s go out and do it.”
Mahomes, who according to PFSN’s QB Impact Metric, posted an impact score of 77.0 last season, suffered a torn ACL and LCL in December during a game against the Los Angeles Chargers. He is eyeing a return in Week 1, but that isn’t guaranteed yet.
Mahomes has been participating in 7-on-7 drills during minicamp, which is a promising sign roughly three months before the regular season kicks off.
