Tuesday night was all about Mitch Marner and the Vegas Golden Knights as they ditched their hockey sticks for brooms and swept the Colorado Avalanche in the Western Conference Final. With that, Marner’s Knights have officially booked a ticket to the 2026 Stanley Cup Final, where they will face one of the Montreal Canadiens or Carolina Hurricanes.
Marner, whose postseason has been nothing short of a revelation, has been the flagbearer of the Golden Knights’ run in these playoffs and reaped the rewards of a risky decision to leave the Toronto Maple Leafs behind last summer.
As he takes his victory lap, it appears his security detail is also basking in the schadenfreude of gloating in Vegas’s success as the Leafs watch on from their couches.
Mitch Marner’s Security Detail Comes Out Swinging
Mike Stephens, a Toronto-based member of the Professional Hockey Writers Association, took to social media to share an enlightening little screenshot that featured Rocket Security taking a proverbial swing at Toronto media.
In Stephens’ screenshot, Rocket Security can be seen sending a direct message to Stevens, saying, “Hey mouthpiece, you’re really quiet now. Still want to take a swipe at me? Go right ahead.”
There was a bit more back and forth, primarily from Rocket Security itself, but you get the gist.

Stephens noted that this was just “one of many” messages he had received, and confirmed that the incident “just happened” when referring to the recency of this turn of events.
ESPN’s NHL reporter Rachel Kryshak took umbrage at Marner’s security detail lashing out in this manner, writing, “Marner’s security sliding into DMs of people is exactly the kind of thing that actually harms his reputation. Apart from the inability to spell ‘you’re’ and ‘quiet,’ this is why he’s treated differently. At some point, you need to hold your people accountable.”
Last year, a similar incident came to light involving Rocket Security. When one NHL fan wrote a post criticizing Marner, Rocket Security wasted no time firing back, drawing attention away from Marner’s form and pointing to how genuine Marner and his family are off the ice. As screenshots made their way to social media, one of Rocket Security’s replies read: “Who else steps up in the playoffs? I’ll wait.”
Marner is yet to comment on the latest incident as Vegas takes some time to rest up ahead of the Stanley Cup Final.
This year, we’ve seen a truly different side of Marner, especially in the playoffs. While the Golden Knights started the season at snail’s pace and were in danger of missing the playoffs late in the regular season, the firing of Bruce Cassidy and the introduction of John Tortorella breathed new life into the franchise.

Mitch Marner has since been on a tear in the 2026 playoffs, racking up a league-leading 21 points across 16 playoff games (7 goals, 14 assists).
Tortorella is also on the cusp of something special. If Vegas triumphs in the 2026 Stanley Cup Final, he will join an exclusive club of coaches to have led two franchises to the holy grail of hockey, a list that includes Scotty Bowman, Dick Irvin Sr and Tommy Gorman.
