Is Aliyah Boston Playing Tonight? Latest Injury Update On Fever Star For Storm Clash

Let's take a closer look at the latest injury update on Aliyah Boston, who may miss the Indiana Fever's clash against the Seattle Storm tonight.

The Indiana Fever have had quite a season so far. They blew a nine-point lead in the fourth quarter to the Washington Mystics, which ended in an OT loss. Now, they have another problem to deal with, and it’s an injury to one of their key starters.

Aliyah Boston’s exit from Friday’s game has put the entire Fever fanbase on edge, and the injury update that followed has not done much to settle the nerves.

What Is Aliyah Boston’s Injury Status?

According to Fever insider Chloe Peterson, Boston has officially been listed as questionable for tonight’s game against Seattle with a lower leg injury. Boston checked out with just over two minutes remaining in the third quarter during Indiana’s 104-102 loss and did not return. The Fever announced shortly afterward that she was done for the night.

Head coach Stephanie White did not have much to offer reporters when asked about the injury after the game. “I don’t have any information on that. I haven’t spoken to our medical staff yet,” White said.

The timing of the injury is particularly concerning because it may not be an entirely new issue. Boston suffered a lower-body injury at the end of her Unrivaled season, which forced her to miss the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament in March, where she was supposed to compete for Team USA.

She was also held out of Indiana’s first two preseason games as a precaution, though the team had indicated she entered the regular season fully healthy. Whether Friday’s injury is related to that previous issue is currently unknown.

The frontcourt depth question is a real one if Boston cannot go tonight. If Boston cannot suit up against Seattle, the Fever will likely turn toward Damiris Dantas, Myisha Hines-Allen, and Makayla Timpson.

Monique Billings, who had 10 points and nine rebounds against the Mystics, has shown she can hold her own, but none of those options carry the two-way impact Boston brings on a nightly basis.

She entered the season averaging 12 points and 5 rebounds across Indiana’s first two games, and her ability to create easy baskets for Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell makes her a decent offensive threat.

The Storm arrives with their own injury concerns. Seattle’s injury report lists Ezi Magbegor as out with a right foot injury, Dominique Malonga as out with a concussion, Katie Lou Samuelson as out with a right knee issue, Taina Mair and Taylor Thierry both out by the coach’s decision, and Awa Fam as not with the team.

That is a significant amount of personnel missing for Seattle, which sits at 1-2 on the season, and it gives Indiana a potential chance to win even if Boston is limited or unavailable tonight.

The Fever drops to 1-3 with a loss and cannot afford to start the season with a third one. Clark and Mitchell will be asked to carry the offensive load regardless of Boston’s status. The final word on Boston is expected to come in closer to game time.
