Senators News and Rumors: Brady Tkachuk Set For a Sit-Down With Ottawa’s Brass

After another first-round playoff exit and a sweep at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes, the Ottawa Senators enter the offseason facing major questions about the future of their young core.

With outside speculation continuing to build around the team’s leadership group, captain Brady Tkachuk is now preparing for an important meeting with Ottawa’s front office to discuss the organization’s path forward.

Brady Tkachuk Preparing For Key Meetings With Senators Management

During a recent episode of the Wingmen podcast, Tkachuk confirmed that meetings general manager Steve Staios and head coach Travis Green are expected to be scheduled within the next few days. The timing of these discussions arrives after weeks of growing trade speculation surrounding the Senators’ captain following Ottawa’s playoff exit.

“Next couple of days,” Tkachuk said.

Even after the sweep against the Carolina Hurricanes, both Staios and Green have continued to publicly dismiss any suggestion that the organization is considering moving its captain. Team management has publicly described the outside chatter as “white noise” while continuing to present Tkachuk as the centerpiece of the franchise.

Tkachuk himself addressed the speculation during his season-ending media availability in April. Frustrated by the repeated questions, the 26-year-old pushed back strongly against suggestions that he wants out of Ottawa.

“I feel like I’ve answered this hundreds of times,” Tkachuk said. “I feel like I’ve never shown, never said, none of those things have ever come out of my mouth.”

The Senators’ captain also admitted that the constant rumors have started affecting the conversation around the team. “Quite honestly it’s just getting frustrating,” Tkachuk added. “It’s becoming a distraction. I have been fully committed to this team, this city.”

Those upcoming meetings carry importance beyond simply shutting down trade chatter. Ottawa is entering another important offseason after consecutive first-round exits, and the organization now faces pressure to improve a roster that has struggled to take the next step in the playoffs.

Tkachuk, meanwhile, remains one of the franchise’s foundational pieces both on the ice and inside the locker room.

Very few NHL forwards bring the same combination of production, physicality, and leadership that Tkachuk provides. He finished the 2025-26 season with 59 points while recording 162 hits, continuing to establish himself as one of the league’s most complete power forwards. He also led the team in shots on goal with 221, reinforcing his aggressive offensive approach.

With two years remaining on his contract and a full no-movement clause attached to the deal, the Senators still hold stability financially. Still, the upcoming discussions between Tkachuk and Ottawa’s management group could play an important role in shaping the team’s direction heading into next season.
