The Edmonton Oilers’ season ended sooner than many expected, bringing a sudden halt to a run that many thought would end with a third straight Stanley Cup Final appearance. Soon after, pertinent questions were raised around Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl’s immediate futures, especially given their blunt exit interviews.
With insider Pierre LeBrun flagging some more concern over Draisaitl’s patience potentially running low, the Oilers winger’s wife, Celeste Desjardins, appears to have quietly eased any lingering doubts about Draisaitl’s future in Edmonton.
Leon Draisaitl’s Wife Signals Long-Term Commitment to Edmonton
Desjardins shared a glimpse into the couple’s offseason through Instagram, and the message carried more weight than at first glance. Her posts highlighted progress on a custom-built home in Edmonton, a detail that suggests the couple has plans to lay down long-term roots in the city. It also clears any uncertainty about Draisaitl’s future.
The images captured both the early stages of construction and the design process, with one story focusing on high-end material samples like fabrics and marble, while another showed the wood framing of a large, multi-level structure taking shape.

The design work connects closely to McDavid’s wife, Lauren Kyle, who is leading the project through her firm, Kyle & Co. Design Studio. Kyle has built a strong presence in Edmonton, blending modern design with lifestyle branding across several projects. Her portfolio spans residential and commercial work, along with ventures like Trove Living and Bar Trove, which continue to expand her reach in the local creative space.
This collaboration also highlights the close relationship between the Draisaitl and McDavid families. Kyle previously designed her Edmonton home with McDavid, which drew attention for both its style and scale.
Draisaitl and Desjardins have been together since 2018 and married in August 2025 in Provence, France. Their presence in Edmonton has grown gradually through personal milestones and community involvement.

All of this unfolds after a difficult playoff exit that raised questions about the team’s direction. The Oilers struggled with defensive lapses, penalty kill issues, and inconsistent goaltending during their six-game series loss to the Ducks.
Even so, the offseason now offers a chance to reset, both on the ice and away from it, with signs like this pointing toward continuity rather than change.
