The scandal surrounding Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini has consumed the NFL’s offseason since Page Six published photos of the two at a luxury resort in Sedona, Arizona, in April.
Both are married with children, and initially dismissed all the allegations, but it didn’t hold for long as Russini resigned from The Athletic and Vrabel had to skip the third day of the NFL Draft to attend counseling.
Michael Holley Warns Mike Vrabel’s Job Could Be on the Line
Additional photos surfaced on April 23 showing Vrabel and Russini together at a New York City bar in March 2020, with one image appearing to show the two sharing a kiss. A separate photo obtained by TMZ showed them at a Mississippi casino in January 2024, a few weeks after Vrabel was fired by the Tennessee Titans.
Russini has not spoken publicly since her resignation. That silence, according to NBC Sports analyst Michael Holley, is what should concern Vrabel most. Appearing on Pro Football Talk, Holley, in a conversation with Mike Florio, argued that the power dynamic between the two has shifted entirely in Russini’s favor.
“She holds all the cards now,” Holley said. “Because when they were working together, they had a story, ‘This is laughable.’ We know that from Vrabel’s side of things: ‘Hey, this is not what it appears to be, there are other people involved, and they’re not pictured, these pictures lack context.’ But since then, she’s lost her job, and Mike Vrabel has come out and basically acknowledged what the pictures say.”
“So, now that [her] credibility is blown and her job is lost, what does she have to say?” Holley continued. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the most explosive thing, although there are some explosive elements that could come out, but she has information about their relationship that she could share.”
Holley didn’t mince words about the potential consequences. He warned that any new information from Russini could trigger a tidal wave that the Patriots organization simply cannot withstand.
“If she shares information about their relationship, then those your [Florio’s] ‘West Virginia flood waters’ come back and they will overwhelm. They would be too much for him to survive from a coaching standpoint. I really believe that if something else comes out, that might be it. That might be it for him.”
Vrabel preaches transparency, accountability, and discipline inside the Patriots’ building, and, due to the ongoing scandal, his credibility on all three fronts has been damaged.

Patriots quarterback Drake Maye spoke to WHDH’s Jonathan Hall at a recent charity event and was asked about Vrabel. “We’re here for Coach, we love Coach,” Maye said in support of Vrabel. “What he does for us, what he’s done for us this past year, you can’t speak into words. Thankful he’s our head coach. Know he’s dealing with some off the field and out of the coaching world, but we’re here for him, and I know he’s gonna come back.”
Due to the support from the players, Vrabel’s job appears safe for now. However, as Holley argued, all of that could change with a single interview from Russini, who has so far stayed quiet while watching her career disintegrate.
