Philadelphia Flyers Clown Pat McAfee After Ex-NFL Punter Loses Bet With Sidney Crosby’s Penguins

The Philadelphia Flyers knocked out the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games, sealing it with a 1-0 OT win in Game 6. After the final buzzer, Philly kept it going online, clowning former NFL punter Pat McAfee for losing his bet tied to Sidney Crosby and the Penguins.

Flyers Troll Pat McAfee After Lost Bet

Pittsburgh was widely viewed as the favorite coming into the series. The Penguins finished second in the Metropolitan Division with 98 points (41-25-16), while the Flyers posted the same total (43-27-12) but landed in third place. Still, Philadelphia flipped the script early.

They stormed out of the gate, winning the first three games, 3-1, 3-0, and 5-2, putting the Penguins on the ropes. To their credit, Pittsburgh didn’t go quietly. They battled back with wins in Game 4, 4-2, and Game 5, 3-2, briefly raising hopes of a comeback. But those hopes were crushed in Game 6 when the Flyers sealed the series in overtime.

The victory didn’t just end Pittsburgh’s season; it also settled a public bet involving Pat McAfee.

Before the series began, McAfee made a wager with Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. If the Penguins won, Shapiro would wear one of McAfee’s signature tank tops to work. If the Flyers came out on top, McAfee would have to show up in a suit.

After sealing the series, the Flyers didn’t waste time having some fun at McAfee’s expense. The team posted a photoshopped image of him wearing a Penguins jersey, complete with neck braces and glasses, along with the caption: “DAHN AND AHT,” a playful jab that quickly caught attention online.

McAfee, who had predicted a Penguins comeback in seven games, took the trolling in stride.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, he acknowledged the Flyers’ post and even gave them props for the creativity. He joked about the edit, calling it a “classic ChatGPT operation,” and admitted he now owes Governor Shapiro a day in a suit. McAfee even leaned into the bit further, saying he might go all out and deliver a full “gubernatorial address” once he follows through on the bet.

But McAfee didn’t stop there. In a follow-up conversation with Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet, he doubled down with another bet. Tocchet joked, “How about you pay the bar bills all summer if we win the Stanley Cup?” That was a challenge McAfee seemed more than willing to entertain, but for only one weekend with a cap.

Now, the Flyers turn their attention to a much tougher test in Round 2 against the top-seeded Carolina Hurricanes.

As for McAfee, all eyes will be on whether he follows through on his end of the bet and if lightning can strike twice with his latest wager.
