Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Chris Evert React to Rory McIlroy’s Masters Victory

Rory McIlroy earns high praise from Chris Evert, Novak Djokovic, and Carlos Alcaraz after his historic back-to-back Masters win.

Rory McIlroy made history by winning the Masters for a second year in a row on Sunday. Tennis stars Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, as well as the legendary Chris Evert, were among the many who sent congratulatory messages to the Northern Irishman.

McIlroy fended off a late charge from Scottie Scheffler to win the sixth Major of his career. The 36-year-old became only the fourth player in history to go back-to-back at the Masters, after Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, and Sir Nick Faldo.

McIlroy is also a big tennis fan and revealed after his round on Friday that he would be watching the semifinals of the Monte-Carlo Masters during his downtime at the Masters.

“There’s actually two really good semifinals at Monte-Carlo in the tennis. So I’ll watch that. It’ll be [Jannik] Sinner and [Alexander] Zverev. And [Valentin] Vacherot and Alcaraz. So I’ll watch those. We’ve been watching the tennis early in the mornings,” he said during a press conference.

Sinner and Alcaraz prevailed in their semifinal matches at the Monte-Carlo Masters. In the final, it was the Italian who came out on top and won the ATP Masters 1000 tournament. With his victory, Sinner also overtook Alcaraz as the world’s top-ranked player in the ATP Rankings.
