Titans Linked to 22-TD WR To Supercharge Cam Ward’s Supporting Cast

The Tennessee Titans could target Jauan Jennings in free agency to give Cam Ward a true number one wide receiver next season.

During a disappointing 2025 campaign that saw the Tennessee Titans finish at the bottom of the league with a 3-14 overall record and 0-6 divisional record, they learned that it will take more than quarterback Cam Ward to bring them back into playoff contention.

Leaning mostly on Chig Okonkwo and fellow rookie Elic Ayomanor, Tennessee simply didn’t have enough star power down the field to keep pace with the opposition most weeks despite Ward’s skill.

Cam Ward Gets a New Target

Ward’s debut season didn’t give him or his fans much to write home about by the time it came to a close. It showed on the stat sheet. Ward finished near the bottom of the league with 15 touchdown passes (T-25th) and a lowly 33.2 QBR (28th).

However, Ward and the Titans’ offense could receive a significant boost soon in the form of veteran wide receiver Jauan Jennings.

Throughout his six-year NFL career, Jennings has made a name for himself in Northern California. After joining the 49ers in 2020, he served as a reliable target for starting quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo and Brock Purdy.

But despite his consistency, Jennings was never treated as one of San Francisco’s top targets during his time there. That honor went to stars like George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk, and Deebo Samuel Sr.

Now, even with Samuel out of the picture since he was traded to the Washington Commanders, Jennings would still face that same problem if he returned to the 49ers in 2026. Along with Kittle and potentially Aiyuk, Jennings would also have to compete for catches with the likes of newly signed wide receivers Mike Evans and Christian Kirk.

If Jennings wants to remain in the background of his team’s passing offense for the foreseeable future, he’s going to re-sign with San Francisco. But that’s probably not something he’s interested in doing at this point in his career.

Why Jauan Jennings Would Be a Good Fit for Tennessee

Unlike in San Francisco, Jennings would have a very real chance to quickly emerge as the team’s next true No. 1 wide receiver. After all, his competition wouldn’t be nearly as stiff.

With the Titans, Jennings would walk into a wide receiver room filled with a mix of players either without much experience under their belts (Ayomanor and Chimere Dike) or past their prime (Calvin Ridley). The top spot would essentially be his for the taking.

According to PFSN’s Alex Kennedy, “Jauan Jennings has watched as plenty of other WRs have signed new deals, but the 28-year-old remains on the market. There were reports that this was in part due to Jennings’ asking price from teams, which may have to come down before he finds a new home.

“Last year, Jennings faced less competition for touches in the San Francisco 49ers’ passing attack, with Brandon Aiyuk out for the whole year and Deebo Samuel Sr. getting traded to the Washington Commanders. However, Jennings’ receiving yards dropped from 975 in 2024 to 643 in 2025.”

Kennedy also added that, “Still, Jennings recorded a career-high 9 receiving touchdowns this year, leading the 49ers. He’s a 6-foot-3, sure-handed receiver who can block. It’s a bit surprising that Jennings is still unsigned, as he can definitely help a WR-needy team. And with Mike Evans and Christian Kirk landing in San Francisco, Jennings will likely get a fresh start on a new team.”

Based on what he achieved as a member of San Francisco’s deep offense, Jennings seems ready to take on a more prominent role elsewhere. The question is which team will be willing to give him the chance to earn it.
