Falcons Predicted To Select 18-TD ‘Rugged and Dependable’ WR ‘To Boost’ Atlanta’s Passing Game

A new mock draft projects the Atlanta Falcons will select Alabama WR Germie Bernard to boost their passing game in 2026.

The Atlanta Falcons need to maximize their offensive window, and that means adding physical pass-catchers who can handle the rigors of the NFL immediately. While the defense desperately needs attention early in the 2026 NFL Draft, a new projection has the front office pivoting to secure a versatile weapon in the second round.

Adding Germie Bernard to the Falcons’ Arsenal

Pro Football Network’s T.J. Randall released a comprehensive seven-round mock draft this week that addresses Atlanta’s needs on both sides of the ball. At pick No. 48, Randall projects the Falcons will snag Alabama wide receiver Germie Bernard.

“The possibility of the Atlanta Falcons going in the direction of corner with their first pick of the draft would generate some excitement, but so would going with the rugged and dependable Germie Bernard to boost this passing game,” Randall wrote.

Bernard brings a multifaceted skill set that NFL offensive coordinators crave. Over a four-year collegiate career spanning stints at Michigan State, Washington, and Alabama, the 6-foot-1, 204-pound receiver proved he can produce from multiple alignments. He is far more than just a traditional outside threat.

The career numbers highlight his unique versatility. Bernard wrapped up his college tenure with 155 catches for 2,203 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns through the air.

He also operated as a legitimate weapon out of the backfield, logging 36 rushing attempts for 184 yards and an additional five scores on the ground. In 2025, he was part of the Alabama offense that ranked 30th nationally, according to the PFSN’s College Offense impact.

That 18-touchdown production makes him a fascinating fit for an Atlanta offense that prioritizes positionless playmakers. Inserting a rugged target like Bernard gives the Falcons another reliable chain-mover. He isn’t afraid to do the dirty work over the middle of the field or take a jet sweep in the red zone.

Atlanta’s passing game already features prominent investments, but depth at wide receiver remains a critical pressure point. You simply cannot survive a grueling 17-game slate without a rotating cast of reliable targets.

Bernard’s experience navigating the SEC and producing in high-stakes environments translates well to a Falcons roster built to compete right now.

Drafting a receiver in the second round signals a clear intent to dictate the pace of the game. While a defensive back remains a popular and necessary target for Atlanta early in the draft, doubling down on offensive weaponry provides vital insurance for the passing attack. Bernard brings the exact physical mentality that fits perfectly with the grinding style of the NFC South.
