Monday was shaping up to be a quiet day after a long weekend, but the Atlanta Dream clearly had some ideas to jolt the sports world out of its slumber. The Dream pulled off a blockbuster move on Monday afternoon, trading for Chicago Sky superstar Angel Reese.
After two eventful seasons with Chicago, the 23-year-old is headed to Atlanta in what is, by all measures, a seismic move to kick off the WNBA offseason. The move sent so many ripples that it also drew Coco Gauff’s attention off rip.
Coco Gauff Reacts to Angel Reese’s Trade to Atlanta Dream
The stunning trade was announced on Monday, with the Chicago Sky receiving the Atlanta Dream’s first-round picks in 2027 and 2028 in exchange for Reese.
Many in the basketball community were taken aback by the news of Reese’s trade to Atlanta. Gauff, a big basketball fan who supports the Miami Heat in the NBA, shared her thoughts on the news under Reese’s Instagram post.
“Looks like I’m making a trip!! Yessss,” Gauff wrote in excitement following the announcement.
Reese shared a mock-up of herself in an Atlanta Dream jersey after the news of the trade broke. She captioned the post, “An Angel’s DREAM! ATL WHAT UP?!”
In addition to being a basketball fan, Gauff has also attended a number of WNBA matches. The tennis star is also an investor in Unrivaled Basketball, a three-on-three women’s basketball league featuring several of the world’s leading players. Reese also plays in the league for Rose BC.
Reese enjoyed two impactful seasons with the Chicago Sky, averaging 14.1 points and 12.9 rebounds per game. The LSU Tigers alum was named to the WNBA All-Rookie team in 2024 and is a two-time WNBA All-Star. She will now hope to make a similar impact in Atlanta, where she will team up with Allisha Gray and Brittney Griner.

The Dream were eliminated in the first round of the WNBA playoffs last season, while the Sky failed to make the postseason after finishing 12th.
The 2026 WNBA season will get underway on May 8 as the two teams look to reset.
Gauff, meanwhile, is set to make her return to the tennis court after her run to the final at the Miami Open last month. The 22-year-old battled an arm injury during the Sunshine Swing, but still battled her way into the final.
Gauff delivered another resolute performance in the final, but ultimately lost in three sets to Aryna Sabalenka.
She’s scheduled to start her clay-court swing at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. The WTA 500 tournament will get underway on April 13. The American is the reigning French Open champion in women’s singles and will be determined to make a similar impact on clay this year.
