Kyler D’Augustino Enters the Transfer Portal After Breakout Season

IU Indy is an NCAA Division I men’s basketball team in the Horizon League, which includes Wright State, Robert Morris, and Oakland. However, they ranked as the worst team in the Horizon League with a conference record of 3-17 and an overall record of 7-25.

Despite their poor record, junior guard D’Augustino was a star. In 30 games played with the team, he averaged 18.5 points, 3.4 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game.

He also shot the ball extremely well from the field (53.1%) and 3-point range (39.4%), earning Third-Team All-Horizon League honors.

Prior to his time at IU Indy, D’Augustino spent two seasons at West Liberty, a school in the Mountain East Conference (MEC) that includes Fairmont State, Wheeling, and Charleston.

During his freshman season (2023-2024), D’Augustino played in 33 games, averaging 8.9 points, 1.2 assists, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game. He shot well from the field again (51.6%), but struggled from 3-point range (17.3%). He was also named MEC Freshman of the Year and to the MEC Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.

The following season, the guard took a major step in his development. In 35 games, he averaged 17.3 points (led team), 2.1 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game.

Additionally, he shot 47.2% from the field and 28.1% from 3-point range. He was named first-team D2CCA All-Atlantic Region and first-team All-Mountain East Conference.

Now, iD’Augustino has announced that will transfer once again: “NEWS: IU Indianapolis junior guard Kyler D’Augustino intends to enter the transfer portal, his agent Jaren Sina told @TheFieldOf68. The 6-1 guard and Albany, Ohio native averaged 18.5 ppg, 3.4 apg, and shot 53.1% FG/39.4% 3FG. Was named 3rd Team All- Horizon League.”

In this age of the transfer portal, not only does D’Augustino have the potential to land with a premier college basketball team, but he could also receive a significant payday through NIL.

His name might not be known by most at the moment, but he’ll have the opportunity to make a huge jump next college basketball season.
