Amanda Anisimova Is Recovering From a Wrist Injury

Anisimova’s most recent competitive stint was the 2026 Miami Open, where she fell in straight sets against Belinda Bencic in the round of 16. She was then scheduled to contest the WTA 500 Charleston Open. The American was, however, forced to pull out due to a then-unspecified injury she picked up in Miami.

“I’m really sorry to have to miss this year’s Charleston Open. I picked up an injury at the Miami Open, and after taking medical advice, I’ve made the difficult decision to withdraw and focus on my recovery,” she said about her absence.

Anisimova has been recuperating, with her family by her side, before resuming her campaign on clay. On Friday, April 3, the World No. 6 shared a selfie with her sister on Instagram. What stuck out was her arm brace. In another story, she disclosed that she’s coping with a wrist injury.

“Been doing lots and lots of @hmshbot (hyperbaric oxygen therapy) for my wrist injury. They’ve been so incredible in helping me recover so I can get back to competing soon!” she wrote.

Anisimova may also be on the hunt for her new coach during her time off. She parted ways with her coach of over two years, Hendrik Vleeshowers, after crashing out of the Miami Open. In 2025, the Dutch coach guided her to two WTA 1000 titles in Doha and Beijing and two Grand Slam finals at Wimbledon and the US Open. He also bagged the 2025 ‘Coach of the Year’ WTA Award.

“Last year holds so many special moments and achievements together that I will never forget! We picked up some trophies and incredible milestones, but all the laughs and behind the scenes moments I’ll carry with me even more. Thank you Rick, thank you for everything you’ve done for me. For seeing and treating me as a human first, before an athlete,” Anisimova wrote in her message announcing the separation.

The American has yet to find her footing in 2026. Her best result so far has been a semifinal run at the WTA 1000 event in Dubai. Her next best result was a quarterfinal exit at the Australian Open. Anisimova would hope to unlock another gear during the clay-court season. She is expected to return to competition at the Madrid Open (April 21 – May 3).
