A domination at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59 should have been the wake-up call. However, the situation got dramatically worse for the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2025 NFL season.
Now, after missing the playoffs for the first time under Patrick Mahomes and losing him to a torn ACL, they have been embroiled in an intense offseason. After a flurry of moves to bring him some help, their job might not be done just yet.
Addressing Chiefs Roster Needs via the 2026 NFL Draft
Parting ways with Trent McDuffie was a major blow to a Chiefs secondary that hasn’t been able to keep the defense afloat anyway. However, the team immediately rebounded with the quality addition of Kenneth Walker III, improving the running game.
Unfortunately, the job of fixing the roster isn’t nearly done. The receiving room is in shambles due to the uncertainty around Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy failing to take a true sophomore jump.
Add in Travis Kelce potentially entering the final season of his legendary career, and the pass-catching group for Mahomes could need a serious overhaul. The next major step in that direction is the 2026 NFL Draft.
Ryan Moran of PFSN believes Kansas City does its best to fix both sides of the football in the draft. In his latest mock draft, he has them adding some wide receiver help in the second round after focusing on defensive help first.
With the No. 40 pick, KC Concepcion from Texas A&M is his choice for the wide receiver spot. “KC Concepcion, out of Texas A&M, is a home-run hitter with his explosion and quickness. He also already has a nice release package and some nuance to his route running.”
Starting his career at NC State before spending one year with the Aggies, Concepcion tallied 2,218 receiving yards and 30 total touchdowns. Ranked as the fourth-best wide receiver prospect in the collegiate circuit by PFSN, his upside is incredible.
Ranked as a top-20 player on PFSN’s CFB WR Impact, he is a tad undersized at 5-foot-11 and 187 pounds. But he is a human joystick with incredible throttle control, change-of-direction, and spatial feel.

That makes him a dynamic threat, both in terms of creating separation and racking up YAC in a hurry. While he is far from the finished product, he has incredible upside and is already putting up spectacular numbers in his raw form.
