Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown has been the subject of numerous trade rumors during the 2026 NFL offseason. The New England Patriots are one team that has consistently been linked to the star playmaker, but Executive Vice President of Player Personnel Eliot Wolf recently denied that the organization has an ongoing interest in a deal.
Patriots Personnel Chief Eliot Wolf Denies Rumored Pursuit of A.J. Brown
Brown has spent the past four seasons with the Eagles, but reports suggest Philadelphia could move the veteran receiver this year. The Patriots emerged as a potential landing spot due to Brown’s connection to head coach Mike Vrabel, who coached him during their time with the Tennessee Titans. The Patriots also have a vacancy at the position after releasing Stefon Diggs on March 11.
While Brown would provide a significant upgrade for the Patriots’ offense, Wolf’s recent comments suggest the franchise is not currently pursuing a trade.
During an appearance on “Up & Adams,” Wolf responded to host Kay Adams when asked directly about the rumored interest in the Eagles’ star.

“We haven’t had any conversations about anything regarding that in a long time,” stated Wolf. The response indicates that while the Patriots may have discussed a potential trade for Brown in the past, they have moved on for the time being.
With the 2026 NFL Draft approaching, the Patriots may be targeting a wide receiver prospect or evaluating other options in free agency. Brown is considered one of the top players available at the position, which also means he would likely be the most expensive to acquire via trade.
Brown has consistently performed at an elite level, finishing among the top 10 wide receivers in PFSN’s Impact Rankings in five of the past seven seasons. This includes three of his four years in Philadelphia. The only time he fell outside the top 10 with the Eagles was this past season, when he finished 21st at the position.

Rumors swirled throughout the 2025 campaign that Brown was unhappy with his situation, specifically citing a reduced workload. These frustrations fueled speculation that he wanted a change of scenery.
While a reunion with Vrabel makes sense on paper, Wolf does not seem to view it as a priority as the Patriots look to build on their Super Bowl appearance from last season.
