It’s draft season, and the Cleveland Browns have once again become one of the most interesting teams to monitor. Their quarterback position remains in question unless Shedeur Sanders remains their answer, at least for one more season.
One analyst, though, posed an interesting hypothetical. If every player in college football were currently eligible for the draft, what would the results turn out to be? According to him, one of the biggest winners in that scenario would be the Browns.
Browns Get Perfect Pairing for Quarterback Shedeur Sanders
The trade speculation surrounding Myles Garrett makes this an even more intriguing idea, as it could come to fruition for Cleveland in the near future. But if the receiver were available, Joel Klatt of Fox Sports is in love with the idea of the Browns pairing their quarterback with Malachi Toney.
“I think they have to add another offensive threat for second-year quarterback Shedeur Sanders. This actually might be my favorite pick in this draft because Toney is an unreal talent. He nearly had one of the most incredible catches I’ve ever seen in Miami’s CFP win over Ole Miss.”
“But the Hurricanes were really creative with how they used Toney as a freshman this past season. They tried to get him the football in different ways, especially when they needed to get the offense out of the mud.”
Calling him a “dynamic playmaker,” he believed Sanders could play the role of a point guard and set up Toney to make a major difference offensively. Just one year into his career, Toney was going to be a part of the 2026 recruiting class before reclassifying.
That may have been a blessing in disguise for the Hurricanes as he became one of the most lethal weapons in all of college football. Ranking at No. 2 on PFSN’s College Football Wide Receiver Impact, he finished the season with 109 receptions, adding 1,211 yards and 10 touchdowns through the air.

However, his dynamic style allowed Miami to use him as a rusher, where he tallied 113 yards and 1 touchdown, as well as a passer, where he threw for 82 yards and 2 touchdowns in 7 attempts.
All in all, he was a franchise cornerstone for the Hurricanes as a rookie, winning the ACC Rookie of the Year award in the process. Of course, his elevation to the NFL only works as a hypothetical, but for an offense that ranked dead last on PFSN’s Offense Impact, he could be the perfect antidote.
