Jessica Pegula and several other WTA and ATP players went undercover at the 2026 Miami Open to interact with fans. The former world No. 3 dressed up as a waitress and shared a funny anecdote from her experience, while Aryna Sabalenka enjoyed the fun that the players had during the event.
Both Pegula and Sabalenka advanced to the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 hard-court tournament in Florida. Pegula will face Elena Rybakina, while Sabalenka will compete against Hailey Baptiste. The world No. 1 is also aiming to complete the Sunshine Double, having previously won the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells by defeating Rybakina in the final.

During the 2026 Miami Open, players such as Pegula, Jeļena Ostapenko, Taylor Fritz, Grigor Dimitrov, and Denis Shapovalov went undercover, taking on roles like waitress, merchandise seller, tournament volunteer, and beer vendor, among others. They interacted with fans who attended the matches at Hard Rock Stadium.
Pegula, disguised as a waitress with a cap and glasses to remain unrecognizable, served food in the dining area and engaged with the fans.

Reacting to the video of her experience, the former world No. 3 humorously remarked that her time as a waitress took a “dark” turn when she asked for tips to use at the casino tables.
“They edited out the part where I asked for a tip so I could hit the casino tables later. It got dark,” Pegula wrote.

The videos of WTA and ATP players in disguise at the Miami Open garnered many reactions, including Sabalenka’s, who shared three laughing emojis in response.
“😂 😂 😂,” Sabalenka commented.

Pegula secured her spot in the quarterfinals at the 2026 Miami Open by overcoming the likes of Francesca Jones, Leylah Fernandez, and Jaqueline Cristian. In the quarterfinals, she will face Rybakina, who reached this stage after defeating compatriot Yulia Putintseva, Marta Kostyuk, and Talia Gibson.
Pegula and Rybakina have faced each other eight times on the WTA Tour, with the Kazakh winning five of those matches. Their most recent encounter was in the quarterfinals at Indian Wells, where Rybakina won 6-1, 7-6(4). The winner of their quarterfinal match in Florida will play against either Sabalenka or Baptiste in the semifinals.
Sabalenka advanced to the Miami Open quarterfinals by defeating Ann Li, Caty McNally, and Zheng Qinwen. She will face Baptiste, who reached this stage by winning against Tatjana Maria, Liudmila Samsonova, Elina Svitolina, and Ostapenko.
The upcoming quarterfinal match between Sabalenka and Baptiste will be the first time these two players have met on the WTA Tour.
