Wideout DJ Chark has retired from the NFL. Now that his time in the league is up, how will he be remembered for his play at the highest level?
Reflecting on DJ Chark’s NFL Legacy
As Ian Rapoport tweeted, “Veteran NFL WR DJ Chark has announced his retirement.” In the tweet, Rapoport also included Chark’s Instagram post. In this post, Chark shared a touching message about his time in the NFL.
Chark started his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was with the team for four seasons. During this time, Chark amassed 15 receiving touchdowns and 2,042 yards.
As Chark mentioned in his post, “As I write this, I reflect on the challenges I’ve faced and overcome, as well as the rewards I’ve reaped.” Chark had both obstacles and great moments with the Jaguars.

Regarding the obstacles, Chark missed some time due to injury. Over the four seasons, he started only 30 games.
On the positive side, Chark had a great Pro Bowl season in 2019. That year, Chark had 1,008 yards and 8 touchdowns.
During this season, Chark had some special games. He had 3 games over 100 yards, including a fantastic game against the Carolina Panthers.
In this game, Chark had 8 catches on 11 targets for 164 yards and 2 touchdowns. It was quite a spectacular game by Chark. The Jaguars were not spectacular that year, though, as they only won six games. However, Chark was a bright spot for the team.
After his time down South, Chark went from one big cat team to another, signing with the Detroit Lions. In 2022, the Lions began turning their franchise around, winning nine games.
Chark contributed with 502 yards, ranking third on the team. He also ranked 45th and got a C grade according to PFSN’s WR Impact Metric. Chark spent only one year in Detroit, but he did make quite an impact.
Chark continued the big cat trend as he went to the Carolina Panthers for another solid season, this time for 525 yards. The Panthers were not good that year, as they only won two games.

After this, Chark signed with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he had only 31 yards. Even though Chark is mainly known as a Jaguar, he appreciates everywhere he has been, stating, “I am grateful for all my teammates, fans, and every organization I have had the privilege to play for.”
Overall, Chark is a good example of how NFL players can make the most of their careers. Is Chark going to be a Hall of Famer? No, but he comes away from his teams very thankful and appreciative. Chark will have fond memories, which is something that will never be taken away.
