Emmanuel Acho Rips ‘Bachelorette’ for Turning ‘a Blind Eye’ to Taylor Frankie Paul’s Domestic Violence

Former NFL star Emmanuel Acho sparked fresh controversy after calling out “The Bachelorette” for ignoring Taylor Frankie Paul’s past domestic violence incident. His criticism quickly caught attention as it challenged how reality television handles serious allegations.

In a time when public accountability matters more than ever, Acho’s remarks have reopened debate around fairness and selective outrage, raising questions about who faces consequences and who is allowed to move forward without scrutiny.

Emmanuel Acho Questions Reality TV Accountability Amid Taylor Frankie Paul Controversy

Per a video he posted on X, Acho weighed in on “The Bachelorette” and Paul specifically. Acho said he once received a call from ABC expressing interest in him hosting “The Bachelor,” revealing it came down to him, Michael Strahan, and Tyra Banks as the network looked to keep the role within its family.

While acknowledging their star power, Acho made his stance clear, saying they could find someone more famous, but not better than him. He added that, before any final decision, he underwent multiple intensive background checks, stressing that the scrutiny was repeated and thorough before he was seriously considered for the hosting role.

“Not only do they do that, they give me a whole booklet in order to host just this one episode and debrief me on all of that,” he said. “Not only do they do that, they give me all of the DVDs of the packages from every character that I’m going to have to talk to during the course of their season to make sure that I am well-prepped as they have completely studied me and my history.”

Acho added, “I say that to say, the franchise knew everything you needed to know about this woman. And they turned a blind eye. And that is what, to me, is disgusting. As soon as they found out this video existed, they were like, uh-oh, we just got caught.”

Towards the end of the video, Acho added, “And I’m tired of seeing it because we saw it in the NFL too. When Ray Rice hit his romantic partner, it was a two-game suspension. When the video came out and we saw him knock her out in the elevator and drag her by her hair, he never played in the NFL again.”

The incident dates back to February 2023, when Paul was involved in a physical altercation with her then-partner, Dakota Mortensen, prompting a police response. The situation quickly drew attention due to the severity of the claims and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following the altercation, Paul was arrested and charged with several offenses, including felony aggravated assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child. She later pleaded guilty to a felony count of aggravated assault in a plea in abeyance agreement, which allows the charge to be reduced to a class A misdemeanor after 36 months if she complies with all court-ordered conditions.

The matter has returned to headlines after video footage from the incident recently emerged, intensifying public scrutiny and ultimately influencing ABC’s decision to cancel the upcoming season of “The Bachelorette” she was set to headline.

What comes next remains uncertain as the controversy continues to unfold. Paul now faces intense public scrutiny and potential long-term damage to her television career. Meanwhile, ABC’s decision signals stricter accountability in casting, while ongoing attention around the case suggests the story is far from over in the coming weeks.
