The Houston Texans are continuing to fortify their offensive line after a 2025 campaign in which the unit struggled significantly. On Tuesday, the team addressed that need by signing two-time All-Pro guard Wyatt Teller, fresh off his stint with the Cleveland Browns. The move quickly drew widespread praise from across the NFL.
Wyatt Teller Headlines Houston Texans’ Offensive Line Revamp in NFL Free Agency
Teller was one of the league’s best guards in the early 2020s. He struggled to replicate that level in 2025, but remained a consistent player protecting the interior of the offensive line. He’ll instantly slot as a starter in Houston, likely as the right guard.
The move earned strong approval from NFL analysts, with Emmanuel Acho highlighting Houston’s proactive approach to rebuilding the offensive line ahead of the draft, giving the team added flexibility entering April. “This signing is major for them. They got the running back and are solidifying the O Line,” he wrote.

Ari Meirov listed moves made by Houston to shore up the protection, including the signings of Teller, Braden Smith, Evan Brown, and the re-signings of Ed Ingram and Trent Brown:

A Houston analyst praised Caserio’s move. The general manager has been criticized for how he built the offensive line in recent years, but this time, there was no criticism: “LFG. WILLED IT INTO EXISTENCE. THEY DOUBTED YOU NICK CASERIO.”

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler also noted how active the Texans were over the past 10 days, pointing out the number of offensive line signings made during that span.
“Texans with five OL signings over last 10 days, and might not be done,” Fowler said.

Finally, Texans reporter Cody Stoots noted how things could shape up for the offensive line going forward. “Almost all of Wyatt Teller’s snaps have been at right guard. Ed Ingram has only ever played right guard. I have to imagine Teller is moving to the left side,” Stoots pointed out.
Another vet on O-line for the Texans.

This also adds to the thought Evan Brown is here to compete at center. https://t.co/sizizTraZ3

Teller was a fifth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The Buffalo Bills traded him after just one season, and he became one of the best interior offensive linemen in the league during his stint in Cleveland. He was essential for Baker Mayfield, and in the early 2020s, the Browns had one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.

However, with many personnel changes and inconsistent quarterback play, the group lost its consistency. According to PFSN’s OL Impact Metric, Cleveland had the league’s worst offensive line in 2025. Teller played in 13 games during the season before going down with a calf injury.
