Fresh off the heels of the BNP Paribas Open, the ATP and WTA Tours head to Florida for the second leg of the Sunshine Double. But several big names will miss the Miami Open, including last year’s men’s singles finalist, Novak Djokovic. Here we take a look at the list of players who will be sidelined from the 2026 event.
Top Men’s Players Missing Miami Open
Djokovic is undoubtedly the biggest name missing the Miami Open. The Serb is a six-time champion in Miami and made the final last year. But a shoulder injury, which also affected him at Indian Wells, has forced him to withdraw from this year’s ATP 1000 event.
Holger Rune will also miss the 2026 Miami Open as he is currently recovering from a torn Achilles tendon. The Dane is on the comeback trail and will hope to return to action during the clay court swing.
Replacing Djokovic at the Miami Open will be Jacob Fearnley, while Juan Manuel Cerúndolo will replace Rune.
Tallon Griekspoor also remains sidelined due to the injury he suffered during his Dubai semifinal. The Dutchman will be replaced by Roberto Bautista Agut in Miami. Jaume Munar and Lorenzo Sonego have also pulled out of the Miami Open and will be replaced by Alexander Shevchenko and Miomir Kecmanović, respectively.
Top Women’s Players Missing Miami Open
On the women’s side of the draw, Emma Navarro is one of the biggest absentees. The American has endured a difficult start to the season and is currently on a four-match losing streak. It is unclear as of this writing why she has decided to withdraw from the tournament.
Another major withdrawal is Emma Raducanu. The Brit reportedly pulled out due to post-viral symptoms after falling ill during her Middle East campaign. Meanwhile, Maya Joint and Sonay Kartal have also withdrawn from the draw due to lower back injuries.
Two-time Grand Slam winner Barbora Krejčíková is another big name on the list of withdrawals. She has been sidelined since the Dubai Tennis Championships, and didn’t play at Indian Wells either. She will be replaced by Simona Waltert.
Loïs Boisson, who enjoyed a breakout run at the French Open last year, remains sidelined with injury. She has yet to play on the WTA Tour this year. She will be replaced in the main draw by Katie Boulter.
Daria Kasatkina, Karolína Plíšková, Markéta Vondroušová, and Veronika Kudermetova are the other big names who have withdrawn from the 2026 Miami Open. Despite the withdrawals, there will be no shortage of big names at the Miami Open, with the likes of Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, and Coco Gauff among the stars set to compete at the Hard Rock Stadium.
The 2026 Miami Open will get underway on March 17 with Jakub Menšík and Sabalenka as the defending champions. The tournament will conclude on March 29.
