Texas wide receiver Cam Coleman arrived in Austin as one of the most hyped prospects in college football and was ranked the No. 1 player in the transfer portal. Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian pulled off a coup by signing Coleman from the Auburn Tigers via the transfer portal to add to his considerable offensive weaponry.
Coleman will provide an enticing target for talented quarterback Arch Manning next season and will complement one of the most stacked wide receiver rooms in the country.
Cam Coleman Details Intense Texas Culture
During an interview with “KVUE Austin” reporter Cory Mose on Saturday, Coleman revealed the intense atmosphere ingrained by coach Steve Sarkisian at Texas and how he has settled into life in Austin.
“We work hard,” Coleman told Mose. “Tough all day. We work hard. When you say ‘tough all day,’ it’s like a deeper meaning. You’re working out, and you’re actually saying it. We work, man. Everybody just welcomed me with open arms, we’ve really just been bonding on and off the field.
“I feel like I’m just wired that way, because it’s just always been something instilled inside of me. My mom and dad, they always told me somebody was always gonna be working hard on you. So I just don’t like to be outworked. So it just really came from that.”
Coleman joins a talented wide receiver room in Texas that includes Emmett Mosley, Ryan Wingo, Kaliq Lockett, and Daylan McCutcheon.

Sarkisian Lauds Coleman’s Work Ethic
While speaking to reporters after the Longhorns’ first week of spring practice, Sarkisian lavished praise on Coleman’s considerable talent, but pinpointed his intense work ethic as a needle mover for Texas.
“I think the skill set kind of speaks for itself, but I think it’s the work ethic, the demeanor, his willingness to be coachable, the effort he exudes,” Sarkisian said. “Guy of his stature and his ability, I’ve seen it plenty of times where maybe they can coach certain things or not. When this guy’s number’s called, he plays and he goes for it.

“When your best players are your best practice players, they send a great message to the rest of the team. And I think Cam has done that just through one practice today. But I do think opportunity is something that we try to seize here, and I think it’s important in life in general.
Despite playing in a misfiring offensive room at Auburn last season, Coleman managed 708 receiving yards on 56 receptions, resulting in five touchdowns. He earned a PFSN’s CFB WR Impact score of 75.2.
