Amanda Anisimova’s Tequila Collaboration Sparks Debate After Indian Wells Run
Anisimova, seeded sixth at the Indian Wells Open, powered past former World No. 34 Anna Blinkova in the round of 64 and then swept aside 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu in straight sets in the round of 32. But her quest for the title came to a sudden halt with a tough defeat to Mboko, who advanced to the quarterfinals and fell to World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.
The American star recently shared glimpses of her collaboration with LALO Tequila, the top brand that was founded by Eduardo “Lalo” González, the grandson of legendary Don Julio González, who founded the Don Julio Tequila brand.
The brand’s Instagram post shared dazzling glimpses of Anisimova in a swimsuit and a striking white outfit, and in the caption, they added, “Match point to golden hour. Indian Wells ad campaign shoot with @amandaanisimova and LALO.”

Her photoshoot and collaboration garnered heartwarming reactions from the WTA stars, with Bouchard sharing, “Wooooaaahhhhh,” and legend Stubbs expressing, “Now that’s the sponsor i need!.”
Her close friend, Hon, also shared her excitement, adding, “There are fire🔥🔥,’ and Eva Lys added, “purr.” Apart from them, Jennifer Brady also mentioned her reaction, writing, “Okuuuuur.”

Yet her partnership with the spirit brand sparked a lively debate in the tennis community. Some fans cheered her on for embracing the collaboration, while others felt that top athletes should steer clear of alcohol endorsements, considering multiple reasons.
Apart from Anisimova, Sabalenka, and Taylor Fritz, who are the brand ambassadors of Maestro Dobel, the US Open’s official tequila sponsor, Frances Tiafoe partners with Bacardi’s Grey Goose vodka.
During her Indian Wells press conference, Anisimova also reflected on her thoughts on playing in home tournaments, as it gives her an advantage, adding, “I’m someone who loves to ride off of that energy. It really motivates me, it keeps me going. So I love it, and I love playing at home tournaments. Yeah, I’m always excited for these tournaments, and especially my family and my friends come out. So it’s always a lot of fun.”
Furthermore, Anisimova is all set to enter the Miami Open as one of the top seeds, and the WTA 1000 tournament will be held from March 15 to 29, 2026, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
