Kevin Durant’s NIL Partnership with the University of Texas

Durant will be working with Texas to provide NIL opportunities for basketball players in the Longhorns program. Madison Booker, on the women’s basketball team, is the first member of the new NIL program.

“Today, Kevin Durant and The University of Texas announced a comprehensive NIL program that will celebrate a select group of Longhorn student-athletes in their continued basketball journeys. In partnership with Nike, Texas women’s basketball forward Madison Booker will become the first athlete to receive access to KD PEs, apparel, and more,” the Boardroom announced on X.

Booker will receive her own personal shoes, apparel, and other benefits as part of this partnership. Booker is the leading scorer and rebounder on the No. 3 Texas Longhorns, who are destined for a top seed in the women’s March Madness tourney. While she is the first player in the program, more basketball players will be added to it in the future.

Along with the NIL program, Durant and Nike announced a yearly sports business summit for student athletes and sports business students at the University of Texas to provide new learning opportunities. The first summit will take place this year and feature guest speakers, financial literacy advice, and other events to help those in the sports business sphere.

Durant is doing what he can to improve the basketball programs at his alma mater. The women’s team is balling, but the men’s team will be needing a couple of wins in the SEC Tournament to secure their spot in the March Madness field. The NIL collective will be an attractive piece at Texas due to Durant’s popularity and success in the NBA, as they hope to build Texas into a powerhouse program once again.
