Malik Willis entered free agency as one of the most coveted players on the open market, and certainly as the top quarterback available. A former third-round pick of the Tennessee Titans who spent his last two seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Willis agreed to a three-year deal with the Miami Dolphins on Monday, ending all of the speculation around where he could potentially end up.

The Dolphins may have been the most sensible landing spot for the 26-year-old, who has seen his stock ascend through the roof in recent months.
They just hired Jeff Hafley as their new head coach after he spent the last two years coordinating their defense with the Packers. If anyone knows just how lethal Willis can be, it’s someone who was tasked with scheming against him in practice every week.
In addition to Hafley, the Dolphins also hired Jon-Eric Sullivan as their new general manager after he spent the last decade as an executive in the Packers’ front office. He’s been in Green Bay for over two decades, however, after beginning his career as a scout.
The Dolphins had a dire need at quarterback after the team’s decision to move on from former first-round pick Tua Tagovailoa.
“I’m great, super excited to be down here,” Willis said in an appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show,” shortly after word of his deal began to hit the media.
“Super excited to be down here. … Excited to go to work and try to do something special. It’s a blessing.”

“The guys I know, Hafley and Sully, I’m real familiar with those guys and I’m excited to go to work and do something special. It’s a blessing.”
The three-year deal Willis signed with the Dolphins is worth $67.5 million and includes $45 million in guaranteed money over the next two years, according to Spotrac.
“I’m just trying to take advantage of every opportunity I can get,” Willis said. “I’m just trying to come down here and do what I can do to help them do some special things, and that’s taking it one day at a time, putting the work in and seeing where the chips fall.”
As Jordan Love’s No. 2 quarterback in Green Bay, Willis started three games for the Packers in the two seasons he was with the team. He’s completed just south of 79% of his passes for six touchdowns and no interceptions. He’s also rushed 42 times for 261 yards and another three scores.
Willis’ final and arguably most impressive audition came on Dec. 27 in a loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
With Love out due to a concussion he had sustained the week prior, Willis completed 18 of his 21 pass attempts for 288 yards and a touchdown, as well as ran for 60 yards and another pair of touchdowns. As a backup, Willis didn’t have enough snaps to qualify for the PFSN NFL QB Impact metrics.
