The first day of the legal tampering period has been every bit as crazy as initially anticipated. A plethora of moves, trades, and new contracts have been dished out, with a ton of player movement.
However, one of the more unexpected developments came for the Arizona Cardinals, who fortified their backfield by adding Tyler Allgeier. Here’s everything you need to know about their newest running back and the deal that got him on the roster.
What Is Tyler Allgeier’s Contract With the Arizona Cardinals?
A fifth-round pick for the Atlanta Falcons in 2022, Allgeier signed a standard rookie contract worth $3,993,896 over a four-year period. A phenomenal rookie season, where he tallied 1,035 rushing yards and three touchdowns, gave the franchise a ton of hope.
However, his numbers have fallen off in recent years, as he finished under 700 yards in each of the last three seasons. But on a team also boasting Bijan Robinson as the lead back, opportunities were scarce.
On just 143 carries last season, Allgeier recorded eight touchdowns on the ground and ranked at No. 40 on PFSN’s RB Impact. As a result, the Cardinals believe they can bring the best out of the young running back.
Giving him a two-year deal worth $12.25 million, Arizona brings him into a backfield that could soon see Trey Benson return to the fold. Last year, injuries ruined the Cardinals’ running game almost completely.
No running back suited up for more than 13 games, and Michael Carter led the team with 92 carries. Simply put, the ground game was non-existent, and bringing in a reliable between-the-tackles back in Allgeier, who has played in 67 games over the last four seasons, could be the best-case scenario for their running back room.
What Is Allgeier’s Salary With the Cardinals?
Agreeing to a two-year deal worth $12.25 million, which should become official on the first day of free agency, Wednesday, unless something untoward happens, means the young power back will have a noticeable uptick in his income.
However, with a per-year average of just over $6 million, he still remains on the lower side of the bracket when it comes to running backs.
What Is Allgeier’s Net Worth?
Spending most of his career in a backup capacity to Robinson has certainly dipped Allgeier’s value across the league. It has directly affected his numbers, and he isn’t in an illustrious position to make up for the low salary with off-the-field deals.
As a result, with total career earnings of $4,798,531, his net worth isn’t publicly known, at least according to most online sources.
