NFL Analyst Issues Harsh Reality Check to Bills After DJ Moore Trade: ‘Josh Allen Is Never Going to Win a Super Bowl’

Jason McIntyre makes a bold claim about Josh Allen and the Bills' future after the team’s blockbuster trade for WR DJ Moore.

With DJ Moore heading to Buffalo, many believe the Pro Bowl WR will finally push them over the top. However, one NFL analyst strongly disagrees, making his bold case against the Josh Allen-led Bills.

NFL Analyst Doubts Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills’ Long-Term

On Friday, March 6, a day after Moore moved to Buffalo, “The Herd” co-host and NFL analyst Jason McIntyre shared his thoughts on the trade and its impact on Moore, Allen, and the franchise.

McIntyre was harsh in his assessment, stating, “DJ Moore is nothing close to a No. 1 receiver,” adding that GM Brandon Beane overpaid for the 28-year-old. He continued to pile on, specifically targeting Beane, noting, “The Bills have drafted seven receivers since they had Josh Allen… none of them have had a 1,000-yard season… this guy [Beane] is failing left and right.”

Ultimately, McIntyre stated, “It’s increasingly looking like Josh Allen is never going to win a Super Bowl, or even get to a Super Bowl, in Buffalo.” He emphasized, “Last season was the shot. Mahomes was hurt… Lamar Jackson didn’t even make the playoffs… Joe Burrow… he didn’t make the playoffs, and the Bills could not get there.”

Still, this harsh reality is not Allen’s fault. Since breaking out in 2020, the superstar quarterback has posted finishes of No. 3, No. 3, No. 2, No. 2, No. 1, and No. 3 among all signal-callers, according to PFSN’s QB Impact Metric. Additionally, during that stretch, he was named the league’s Most Valuable Player in 2024.

In 15 postseason appearances, Allen has averaged 261 passing yards, 51.1 rushing yards per game, and 9 rushing touchdowns. Notably, he has thrown 29 touchdowns to just 6 interceptions, recording the lowest interception percentage in NFL playoff history (1.1%).

Allen has an 8-7 postseason record and two AFC Championship appearances, both falling to Kansas City. Unfortunately, factors like a lack of receiving talent, poor defensive play, and running into Mahomes and the Chiefs have kept the Allen-led Bills from getting over the hump.

As for the trade, although McIntyre disagrees, Bills fans see Moore as a potential missing piece. Last season, Moore caught 50 passes for 682 yards and six touchdowns, and had a 71.6 score in PFSN’s WR Impact Metric, ranking No. 71.

Though not spectacular, Moore finished with 1,364 receiving yards and ranked No. 7 among wideouts two seasons ago. If anyone can help Moore return to form, it’s Allen. Whether the Bills won this trade remains to be seen, but it will be worth watching if Allen can lead another deep playoff run and finally claim a Lombardi Trophy.
