The Kansas City Chiefs shockingly missed the playoffs last season after reaching the Super Bowl in each of the three years prior. They will now look to regroup during the offseason and address some roster issues.
The free agency period will be one of their opportunities to do so, and they are rumored to be targeting one of the top running backs available.
Chiefs Rumored to be Interested in Kenneth Walker III in 2026 NFL Offseason
The Chiefs entered last season as one of the overall favorites to win another Super Bowl. Not only did they fall short of their expectations, but their disastrous year resulted in missing the postseason for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era.
Their unexpected struggles may require them to make a splash in free agency in order to get back on track.
They are rumored to be considering doing so by targeting one of the top running backs. This comes from Rickey Scoops, who is not an NFL insider but has built a reputation for accurately predicting moves across the league.
“I’ve been told that the Chiefs are the current favorite to land Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III,” said Rickey Scoops.

Walker stepped up in a major way for the Seattle Seahawks this year, especially after his backfield tandem teammate, Zach Charbonnet, went down with an injury.
His contributions were pivotal in their winning the Super Bowl, including his being named the game’s MVP. The Seahawks are reportedly not planning to extend Walker’s contract, so he is likely to become an unrestricted free agent this year.
He finished 20th among all running backs in PFSN’s Impact Rankings and has totaled 31 touchdowns across four seasons in Seattle.
The Chiefs are apparently emerging as a frontrunner to land Walker in free agency, with the New York Giants also being mentioned as a potential landing spot. They are looking to quickly get back into contention for another championship, but it may be altering its approach after Mahomes’ devastating injury.
The superstar quarterback is in danger of missing the start of the 2026 NFL season after a major knee injury late last season. This could potentially force them to rely more on their ground game, so adding a top running back would theoretically help them do so.
Walker is arguably the best player available at his position, so their rumored interest makes sense.
