Jessica Pegula and Elena Rybakina’s Near-Collision

During her first-round match, Jessica Pegula nearly bumped into Rybakina, who was sitting court-side along with the likes of Fritz, Learner Tien, and Amanda Anisimova. With the score 7-5 in Pegula and Tommy Paul’s favor, the American attempted to reach Alexander Bublik’s shot but just ran out of space in the end and nearly bumped into Rybakina.

Pegula and Paul lost to Mirra Andreeva and Bublik 11-9 in the end, bowing out of the event in the first round.

Casper Ruud and Iga Świątek’s Hilarious Argument

During their semifinal clash against Fritz and Rybakina, Iga Świątek and Casper Ruud also nearly collided as they both attempted to return a shot at the same time. A video of the moment later went viral on social media.

They were later asked about the near-collision, and Świątek said jokingly, “Well, we both love our forehands. What can I say? We both want to play. That’s just excitement.”

When asked about whose fault it was, Świątek said, “I think mine.”

Ruud responded, “No, no, no. It was mine. 100%.”

Świątek added, “How can you say that? You had so much space to run and I was right next to it.”

Ruud said, “But it was on your side. So I shouldn’t go over on her side. But I was just so tempted to just rip one at Taylor and I had my chances. But…”

Świątek and Ruud lost their semifinal clash at the Tie Break Tens event.

Fritz Nearly Hits Rybakina With Her Serve

Rybakina had another scare during the first round as Fritz’s serve nearly landed on her head as he got his serve wrong while she was in the crouched position as the front player. There were laughs all around as the ball hit the net.

A fan on X shared the video of the incident.

“I can’t really volley all that well, so it works out great. She serves great and makes my life really easy,” Fritz said when asked after the match about what makes their partnership so great.

Rybakina and Fritz went on to win that contest 10-5 en route to a second straight Tie Break Tens triumph at Indian Wells.
