‘I Never Liked Salah’ — Ex-Liverpool Star Labels Star Forward as ‘Yesterday’s Man’ in Scathing Verdict

Salah was close to leaving Anfield last season as he entered the final months of his deal, and a new contract was not initially offered. His scintillating form and pressure from fans led the club to change its stance, and he was handed a deal worth around £400,000 per week.

Former Liverpool winger Mark Kennedy has now claimed that he did not like Salah’s performances last season. He said the goals and assists were misleading, as his ball retention was poor and he kept losing possession.

Kennedy added that he is a fan of the winger but does not think he is good enough anymore. He said on talkSPORT, “I am going to be controversial here. When I look at Salah’s stats last year, they’re absolutely phenomenal. But every time I watch Liverpool, I never liked Salah.

“I think his ball retention is really, really poor. He gives up a lot of possession, and I’ve been really vocal when I speak to people about Salah this year. I am a Liverpool fan, I am a big fan of Salah, I think he’s amazing, but I think he’s yesterday’s man.”

The pundit added that Salah’s poor performances have been the main reason for the club’s struggles this season. He believes the Egyptian’s lack of goals has affected them and said:

“I am not surprised by his performances this year because I’ve actually been saying it for a long time. I think that has affected Liverpool because when you look at what Liverpool have lost from last year, they’ve lost a huge amount of goals. Salah got 29 in the Premier League last year, he’s got four. Then you look at Salah’s behaviour and his comments.”

Salah hit out at Slot and the club earlier this season after the manager dropped him for a few games. The winger claimed that he had earned his spot in the starting lineup and that a few bad games should not dethrone him.

He has scored four goals and assisted six times in the Premier League this season, managing just 13 shots on target. The former Chelsea man has just over a year left on his contract and has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League this summer.
