Jeremiyah Love Makes Feelings Clear on Potentially Playing With Patrick Mahomes for Chiefs

Jeremiyah Love did not mince words in praising Patrick Mahomes and indicated that he hopes to be selected by the Kansas City Chiefs.

One of the top talents declared for the 2026 NFL Draft is Jeremiyah Love, a running back who stood out for Notre Dame. Several franchises have shown interest in adding the player to their roster, but if it were up to Love, his specific destination would be the Kansas City Chiefs, thanks to quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Jeremiyah Love Made Clear His Preference To Play Alongside Patrick Mahomes

In an interview with “The Rich Eisen Show” (via ESPN), the RB said wearing the Chiefs uniform and collaborating with Mahomes would be a dream come true and an immense professional distinction.

The Running Back also noted that his versatile style would fit perfectly with Andy Reid’s offensive philosophy, creating a dynamic that would be difficult for opponents to contain.

During the interview, Love also emphasized that his style of play would benefit both the Chiefs’ ground and passing games, making the franchise more inclined to rely on him next season.

“I see a lot of people saying I’m getting drafted to the Chiefs, Saints, saw the Giants, saw the Commanders, saw the Cowboys not too long ago. I mean, I’d be blessed to go anywhere,” said Love, before being questioned by Elsen about the Chiefs.

He added, “I would be, especially playing with Patrick Mahomes. I feel like he’s, I mean, the best quarterback as of right now that’s in the league. I feel like he’s top one. So it’d be an honor to play with him.”

Having Love on the team could be one of the most decisive factors in the Chiefs’ success in restoring explosive plays on offense (which ranks No. 17 in the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metric with a B+ grade).

In 2025, the Chiefs struggled to generate long-distance rushing plays, while the RB had 22 runs of 20 yards or more in two seasons at Notre Dame.

Love won the Doak Walker Award (best running back in college football) and was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, but his main strength lies in his ability to catch passes and line up as a slot receiver, something Reid values deeply.

Although selecting a running back in the top 10 of any draft is considered risky in the modern NFL, it is worth the Chiefs taking a chance on a player who had over 1,300 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns in his last college season.
