Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova are two of the top names on the WTA Tour. Recently, Coco Gauff’s former coach, Brad Gilbert, shared his thoughts on the chances that Pegula and Anisimova will win a Grand Slam title during their careers.
Both players recently competed at the 2026 Dubai Tennis Championships. Pegula won the tournament by defeating Elina Svitolina in the final, claiming her fourth WTA 1000 title. Meanwhile, Anisimova reached the semifinals before losing to Pegula.
Brad Gilbert Makes His Feelings Known on Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova’s Chances of Winning a Grand Slam Title
In Grand Slam events, Pegula’s best singles result so far was reaching the 2024 US Open final. She also reached the semifinals at the 2026 Australian Open and the quarterfinals at the 2022 French Open and the 2023 Wimbledon Championships. In doubles, Pegula, while partnering with Gauff, finished as runners-up at the 2022 French Open.
On the other hand, Anisimova recorded her best Grand Slam results in 2025, finishing as runner-up at the Wimbledon Championships and the US Open. She also reached the semifinals of the 2019 French Open and the quarterfinals of the 2026 Australian Open.
In a recent episode of Tennis Channel’s “The Big T” podcast, Gilbert was asked about the chances Pegula and Anisimova have of winning a Grand Slam title in their careers. In response, he stated that, at 32, Pegula has less time to achieve this than Anisimova. However, he stated that “combined,” the two players have more than an 80% chance of winning a Major title.
“Well, I feel like Jess has a lot less time at 32. Double A’s got a lot more time. Also, I don’t think there are a couple of Majors. I don’t think it works that well for Jess, but combined, I’m going to say 83 point blank blank. 83.2,” Gilbert said.
Gilbert’s co-host, Alison Riske-Amritraj, expressed that Anisimova will win a Grand Slam title in her career and added that Pegula could also win a Major if she experiences “a little luck” on her side.
“Well, I already alluded to the fact that I think Anisimova is going to win a Grand Slam. So, I can’t take that back. I also think that Jess Pagula, before she retires, will get a Grand Slam. I think the draw will fall, she’ll get a little luck in there, not that she needs it, but I think we all could use it at times. I’m going to go with uh 95%. So Jess, Amanda, we’re counting on you girls,” Riske-Amritraj added.
Looking ahead, Pegula and Anisimova will next compete at the 2026 BNP Paribas Open, scheduled for March 4 to March 15, 2026. The main draw matches will be held on the outdoor hard courts at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
