NFL Players Predict Where Tyreek Hill Will Sign in Free Agency After Dolphins Cut Ties With 6-Time All-Pro

With some bold predictions, NFL players give their take on where Tyreek Hill could sign next after the Dolphins cut ties.

The Miami Dolphins set the NFL world on fire on Feb. 16 by releasing Tyreek Hill, instantly triggering league-wide debates and nonstop speculation. In the immediate aftermath of the news, both former and current players weighed in on the move, with many already predicting potential landing spots for the star wide receiver.

From Kansas City to New England, NFL Players Weigh In on Tyreek Hill’s Next Free Agency Stop

Ever since Hill’s release, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been viewed as the best possible landing spot for the star wide receiver, along with the Kansas City Chiefs. Pittsburgh’s struggling offense needs explosiveness, and Kansas City’s past success with Hill makes both fits feel almost natural.

However, the buzz isn’t limited to just those two franchises. NFL players from teams outside of Pittsburgh and Kansas City have also jumped into the conversation.

Former NFL star and analyst Ryan Clark said, “It’s time to reconnect with Kansas City. Terrell Owens & Antonio Brown are two of the greatest to ever catch a football. Yet, TO was unfairly excluded from being a 1st or 2nd ballot Hall of Famer, & I fear even worse for AB. Tyreek has to keep his legacy in mind with this next step.”

The Chiefs’ star player, Chris Jones, also tagged Hill on social media, posting, “@cheetah it’s ⏰️.”

Former star defensive tackle from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Gerald McCoy, added another contender to the mix, writing, “Reke either to KC or Buffalo.”

Buffalo has lacked a consistent big-play threat who can flip field position in a single snap. So adding Hill would give Josh Allen a receiver capable of turning routine passes into massive chunk gains.

But Robert Griffin III predicted the New England Patriots could be a could fit for the six-time All-Pro. “The New England Patriots need to sign Tyreek Hill. Drake Maye was the best deep ball thrower in football this year. If Tyreek Hill gets back to 90% of what he was, the Patriots get a massive mismatch chess piece on their board.”

Notably, one of Hill’s biggest strengths is his ability to win downfield, and the numbers back that up. During the 2023 season (ranked #1 in PFSN’s WRi that season), Hill averaged 15.1 yards per reception while leading the NFL with 1,799 receiving yards, showing how frequently he turned deep targets into massive chunk plays.

And while Hill’s potential reunion with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce continues to gain traction following his release, Willie Colon doesn’t think the Chiefs would be the right fit for him. “We gotta be careful. Nostalgia will get you in trouble… I think if you’re the Chiefs right now, you need to focus all your eggs on getting Travis Kelce back in the building,” Colon said on First Things First.

But former Chiefs wide receiver Gehrig Dieter, who has played with Hill, wants the former Dolphins QB to play for the Chiefs. He wrote, “Bring him home!”

At the moment, three to four teams have firmly entered the conversation as potential landing spots for Hill. However, there’s a catch that could complicate everything. An injury expert has weighed in on Hill’s projected return timeline, raising concerns about the long-term impact of his reported nerve injury.
