The Cleveland Browns are changing. Under new head coach Todd Monken, the Browns are bracing for a big turnover, according to general manager Andrew Berry, after finishing the past two seasons as the league’s lowest-scoring offense.

David Njoku’s contract is expiring, and his farewell to the Browns felt soft around the edges, almost wistful. After nine seasons with the Browns, the tight end who came as a 20-year-old first-round pick is preparing to leave as a 29-year-old veteran searching for his next chapter.

PFSN’s TEi graded Njoku at 71.5, a reminder that while his 2025 numbers dipped, his value hasn’t evaporated. He remains an accomplished tight end in franchise history, second only to Hall of Famer Ozzie Newsome in touchdown receptions (34) and catches (384) at the position.
One projected destination by PFSN is the Ravens. The Ravens could soon have an opening. Isaiah Likely is expected to enter unrestricted free agency following the expiration of his rookie contract. The Ravens’ December decision to sign Mark Andrews to a three-year, $39.3 million extension showed a long-term commitment at the top of the depth chart, but it may also make him likely the odd man out financially.
If Likely leaves, the Ravens will need a reliable complement to Andrews in an offense that has maximized the tight end position. Under center, Lamar Jackson increases his versatility. The Ravens’ system prizes adaptability, physicality, and players who can stress defenses in layered ways. Njoku fits that blueprint.
At his peak, he has been more than a red-zone target. His 2023 Pro Bowl season, 81 receptions, 882 yards, six touchdowns, showed his ability to be a cornerstone, not just a supporting character.

Unlike the Browns, in the Ravens, Njoku wouldn’t be asked to carry the weight of reinvention alone. He’d join a roster accustomed to January football. Pairing Njoku with Andrews could create a strong, tight-end duo capable of shifting formations.
For Njoku, the decision may come down to what this next phase represents. After nearly a decade navigating the Browns’ fluctuations, he has a chance to choose structure and continuity.
