Iga Świątek, Coco Gauff, and Eva Lys React As Lindsey Vonn Suffers a Crash
After her injury a week before the Olympics, Vonn provided an update, revealing that she had ruptured her left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), had a bone bruise, and had meniscal tears. Despite facing such challenges, though, the skier was determined to compete. World No. 2 Świątek had shared a motivating message for Vonn, expressing, “As long as you fight, you are the winner @lindseyvonn 💪🔥”
Things took a turn for the worse when the three-time Olympic medallist crashed again during her downhill race at the Olimpia delle Tofane course. Vonn, who was already physically compromised with an injured knee, faced a harrowing end to her fifth Olympic appearance. After the crash, Vonn was heard screaming in pain and was later airlifted by a helicopter for immediate medical attention.
After the incident, the Polish sensation shared her feelings through her Instagram story, adding, “My thoughts are with you 💔,” whereas Gauff added, “❤️❤️❤️.”

Apart from them, German star Eva Lys, who ended her Australian Open run with a first-round loss to Sorana Cîrstea in three sets, also reflected her thoughts on Vonn’s uneventful crash, “Lindsey 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔.”

Days before the Olympics, Gauff also expressed her thoughts as Vonn shared an update on her preparation and rehabilitation on Instagram, “I’m not giving up 💪🏻 working as hard as I can to make it happen! Thank you to my team and everyone for your incredible support. Keep believing 🙏🏻❤️,” to which the American star added, “amazing,” expressing her awe.

Apart from the WTA stars, ATP legend Novak Djokovic also shared an inspirational message for the 41-year-old elite skier before the Olympics, adding, “Let’s go Lindsey 🙌🙏💪.”
While Vonn fell short of her Olympic goals, her compatriot, Breezy Johnson, became the second American to clinch the gold in Olympic downhill, following the former’s feat in the 2010 Winter Olympics.
