Pundit Believes Move to Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham Could Reignite England International’s Career

A bold pundit suggests Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham could be the perfect reset button to revive a stalled England international’s career.

Wrexham, owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, is continuing its fairy tale story, with the team currently sitting in sixth place in the EFL Championship table. And, a pundit has claimed that one England star should join the Welsh club soon.

Wes Brown Floats Shock Wrexham Move as Potential Career Reset for Raheem Sterling

During a recent interaction with Betting Lounge, former Manchester United star Wes Brown shared his honest thoughts on Raheem Sterling’s situation now. He said the forward should renew his interest in soccer at Wrexham after being released by Chelsea.

“I hope Sterling still likes football. What a player he’s been… and he can still definitely do a job for a club. It’s a shame what can happen in football. Can a club like Wrexham and their story be the thing to reignite his passion for the game? Sometimes, that’s all it takes,” the former centre-back, who won five Premier League titles, remarked.

Brown, who also represented Sunderland in the Premier League, also rejected the idea that Sterling is only motivated by money following his time in Chelsea’s ‘bomb squad’.

“Some people say he gets paid this and gets paid that… but it’s not all about that. You just want to play, so, I’m glad that his situation is getting sorted out now hopefully. He’s a great lad and you just hope he does what’s best for him. If you feel like a big part of a team, and you feel wanted and loved, you play better,” Brown concluded.

Sterling, who reportedly earned over $413,000-a-week at Chelsea, is believed to be lacking match fitness now. His last senior appearance came while on a season-long loan at Arsenal in a 2-1 Premier League away victory against Southampton in May 2025.

Should the Liverpool academy product join Wrexham as a free agent in the near future, the 31-year-old could prove to be a transformational signing for them. He would likely increase their chances of getting promoted to the Premier League as a key starter.

On the other hand, former Tottenham Hotspur star Jamie O’Hara has claimed that Sterling could be a good addition to Spurs this season.

“I would take him at Tottenham. I think he’s a good player, better than what we’ve got. I’d sign him on a contract till the end of the season if he was willing to do that. I think he still has the desire. I think he could still produce moments,” O’Hara told talkSPORT.

During his illustrious career, the 82-cap England international has won four Premier League titles, one FA Cup, five EFL Cups, and one FA Community Shield trophy.
