Sanders didn’t open the 2025 NFL season as the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, but he ended the year in the position. Several situations kept him from starting until later in the season, but when it finally came, he didn’t let it go.
The polarizing rookie was later named as a Pro Bowl quarterback for the AFC, though many around the league have debated whether or not he actually deserved to be selected. Nevertheless, he is officially a Pro Bowler, and his father, Deion, gave his take on what the accomplishment means for his son.
“My son made the Pro Bowl. My son did something that I didn’t do. He made the Pro Bowl in his first year, but I made it in my third year. It’s more like a, not an ‘I told you so’ moment, it’s more like a ‘God is good’ moment,” explained Sanders.

Coach Prime is one of the greatest all-around athletes to ever play in the NFL, excelling in all three phases of the game. His primary position was one of the most exceptional defensive backs of all time, but he was also an extremely dangerous returner and a useful contributor on offense.

There’s no denying he’s a Hall of Famer and an absolute legend because of his dynamic career, but not even he was selected for the Pro Bowl in his rookie season. Shedeur will be one of the quarterbacks representing the AFC this year, though some have questioned if he actually earned the right to be there.
He disappointingly finished the year ranked 46th among 48 qualified quarterbacks in PFSN’s Impact Rankings, demonstrating his overall shortcomings, despite flashing his upside at times as well. He did finish one spot higher than Dillon Gabriel, who was drafted before him, and who he surpassed on the Browns’ depth chart to end the year as their starting quarterback.
When it’s all said and done, it doesn’t really matter who disagrees with his selection into the Pro Bowl; it will officially be a part of his player history, regardless of how the rest of his career turns out. If nothing else, Deion is impressed by it and surely proud of his son’s journey.
