As LSU Tigers head coach Lane Kiffin gets settled into his new program, some of his coaching staff’s future has been in question. Offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. is expected to join Kiffin’s staff at LSU as their new OC, but after some rumors circulating about a potential move to the NFL, his future seemed uncertain. Those speculations were put to rest today.
Is Jaxson Dart’s Push for Charlie Weis Enough To Convince Him To Leave LSU?
Weis is expected to earn $2.5 million per year through 2028, which makes his contract worth $7.5MÂ to be LSU’s OC for the next few seasons. After a few days of drawing NFL interest, Jordan Raanan of ESPNÂ reports that Weis is committed to remaining at LSU.
New York Giants star quarterback Jaxson Dart had been making a push for Weis to become the new OC in New York. “Jaxson Dart pushed for him. Showed support for his guy, per sources. Things can change, but expectations as of now are that Weis Jr. plans to remain in college at LSU,” Raanan reported on Dart pushing for Weis.
According to reports, Weis Jr. was also drawing interest from the Philadelphia Eagles. While both jobs are appealing on the surface, Weis Jr.’s success under Kiffin at Ole Miss puts them both in a great position to continue their prowess at LSU. What made the Giants’ destination so convincing was the obvious connection between Weis Jr. and Dart, since he was the offensive coordinator for Ole Miss during Dart’s college days.
Earlier this week, Dianna Russini of Yahoo! Sports reported that Weis bowed out of the Eagles’ OC search. “LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. spoke to the Philadelphia Eagles about their offensive coordinator vacancy but informed the team he has chosen to remain with Lane Kiffin and the Tigers.
Earlier this month, Weis Jr. spoke with On3 about his commitment to LSU’s program and denied any interest in the NFL.
“I’m fired up about finishing the job at Ole Miss and the future at LSU,” Weis Jr. replied. Interestingly, Weis Jr. did accept a call from the Eagles about their offensive coordinator vacancy, but ultimately, it appears that reuniting with his former quarterback, Dart, or a recent Super Bowl Champion Eagles team, he seems very committed to his future with Kiffin at LSU.

Weis Jr. has spent a lot of time working with Kiffin, including Alabama (2015-16), Florida Atlantic (2018-19), and, of course, Ole Miss (2022-25). The two appear to be locked in to continue their high-scoring offenses moving forward in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
