Garrett Nussmeier delivered one of his most encouraging performances of the pre-draft process on the final day of Senior Bowl practices, putting together a strong showing that helped reestablish some momentum in his NFL Draft evaluation.
After a rocky season that left scouts searching for consistency, Nussmeier entered Mobile knowing the week carried real weight for his future. He didn’t fully steady the ship, but he started to flip the narrative.

Early impressions from evaluators have been overwhelmingly positive, with Nussmeier showing improved command, confidence, and timing, reminding teams why his arm talent and upside remain worth betting on.
The highlight came during a two-minute sequence in which Nussmeier strung together multiple quality throws, operating effectively both within structure and when forced off platform. While his command of the offense was impressive, it was his off-script ability that stood out most to scouts in attendance.
That element of his game had not consistently shown up during his two years as a starter at LSU, making this display particularly notable. For Nussmeier, a strong Senior Bowl week was necessary. Entering the 2025 season, his draft stock had climbed as high as the first-round conversation, but an uneven year caused that momentum to stall.

While he remains in the mix for QB3 in this class, he currently sits at QB7 on the PFSN Consensus Big Board. Complicating matters further is the reality of this quarterback class: there is a steep drop-off from QB2 to QB3, with limited top-end juice beyond Fernando Mendoza and Ty Simpson.
Following practice, Nussmeier addressed the regression in his play, offering important context without leaning on excuses. He stopped short of outright blaming injuries, but he acknowledged their significant impact on his mechanics and overall performance.
“I’ve had to re-train from the ground up,” Nussmeier said, admitting the process was a “struggle at times.”
A core injury severely limited his ability to generate power from his lower body, fundamentally altering his throwing mechanics throughout the season. Understanding just how much that injury affected his base and torque helps explain the statistical drop-off.
After ranking as high as 12th nationally in PFSN’s CFB QB Impact Grade the year prior, Nussmeier fell all the way to 110th in 2025, a dramatic swing that reflected his physical limitations more than his talent.
The encouraging takeaway is that Nussmeier is finally healthy again. The improved movement, restored mechanics, and confident off-platform throws he showed in Mobile suggest a quarterback trending back toward his earlier form.
If he can continue stacking positive performances at upcoming workouts and events, his draft stock has a realistic path toward partial restoration and perhaps a renewed push into the upper tier of this quarterback class.
