“Francis, thank you for our time together. You have been more than a coach to me and I will cherish the many good times we spent together on and off the court,” Raducanu wrote on her Instagram story.

“While we have come to the conclusion together that we ought not to move forward, please know that I am very grateful for all you have taught me and fond of our time shared,” she added.

Raducanu had only started working with Roig in August. Under Roig’s tutelage, Raducanu had an overall record of 7-9. She was eliminated in the Australian Open in the second round by Anastasia Potapova in straight sets.

Prior to working with Raducanu, Roig had served as Rafael Nadal’s alternate coach for more than a decade. The 57-year-old also coached Matteo Berrettini from December 2023 to October 2024.

What Next for Emma Raducanu?

Raducanu has not been able to recapture the form that saw her win the US Open in 2021 as a qualifier. She has not progressed past the fourth round since her shock triumph at Flushing Meadows.

The British tennis star has also had a high turnover of coaches over the last four years, working with the likes of Mark Petchey, Nick Cavaday, Dmitry Tursunov, and Torben Beltz. It remains to be seen who will be Raducanu’s next coach following Roig’s departure.
