Falcons’ Surprise Accolades Represent a Team With a Ton of Potential

The Falcons’ season was not up to par, but they still had four players named All-Pro.

The regular season is over, and the season award lists have been released. Although the Atlanta Falcons had a subpar season, they ended the year on a four-game winning streak. They also had four players named to the All-Pro team. Here’s who they are.

Bijan Robinson

Falcons running back Bijan Robinson had a terrific season, totaling more than 2,000 yards from scrimmage. Robinson was the driving force behind the offense and helped the team get going in games. When Robinson had the ball, it took pressure off quarterback Kirk Cousins, allowing the Falcons to utilize play-action effectively. Robinson finished with 1,478 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns, while also accumulating 820 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns.

Robinson’s best game came against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 17, when he rushed for 195 yards and a touchdown and added 34 receiving yards and a touchdown. The Falcons won that game 27-24. Robinson was named first-team All-Pro at running back and second-team All-Purpose.

Chris Lindstrom

Right guard Chris Lindstrom was one of the leaders on the offensive line. He played the majority of the offensive snaps this season and allowed only one sack, making him one of the best at his position in the league. PFF graded Lindstrom at 88.4 overall, excelling in both pass and run blocking. His performance this season earned him second-team All-Pro honors.

Kyle Pitts Sr.

Tight end Kyle Pitts Sr.’s NFL career had been underwhelming through his first few seasons outside of his rookie campaign. This season, however, Pitts emerged as a top target in the Falcons’ offense. He finished with 88 catches for 928 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns, all career highs. His best game came against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 15 on Thursday Night Football, when he caught 11 passes for 166 yards and 3 touchdowns. Pitts led the team in receiving that night and was a reliable target for Kirk Cousins. His overall performance earned him second-team All-Pro honors.

Jessie Bates III

In a banged-up secondary, Bates provided stability while leading the defensive back group and making several game-changing plays, earning second-team All-Pro honors at safety. Bates recorded 57 tackles and 3 interceptions, one of which was a pick-six against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 17.

The Falcons have a lot of talent on the roster, and the new regime they bring in will inherit a solid football team.
