Giants Pro Bowler Reveals How Jaxson Dart Surprised Him in Training Camp: ‘He Was Barking at Me’

A Giants Pro Bowler shares how rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart caught him off guard in training camp, joking that “he was barking at me.”

The New York Giants’ 4–13 finish and the midseason dismissal of Brian Daboll made 2025 a year to forget in the standings. Still, beneath the losses, signs of a brighter future began to emerge in the Big Apple. Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart stood at the center of that optimism, headlining a first-year class that quickly earned the respect of the locker room.

One three-time Pro Bowler didn’t need long to see it, explaining that from the moment Dart arrived, it was clear the Giants might already have a franchise-altering talent in the building.

Jaxson Dart Quickly Made a Lasting Impression on Giants’ Pro Bowler

While appearing on Ryan Clark’s podcast, “The Pivot,” Giants Pro Bowl edge rusher Brian Burns spoke about how he recognized Dart was different right from the start when he arrived at training camp. When asked what about Dart impressed him the most this season, Burns said the following. “Confidence, straight up, and I’ve seen that first hand in training camp.” Burns told Clark.

Burns went on to speak about how Dart’s confidence was prominent as a third-string rookie quarterback. “He’s going to tell you that he made it to the end zone, you feel me? But he barking at me as if like he want some smoke, and I’m like, you just got here.” Burns continued saying.

Burns then continued to speak on how all three prominent Giants rookies, Dart, Abdul Carter, and Cam Skattebo, came into training camp with the same confident mindset. It was something Burns had not seen before from a group of rookies.

“He and Abdul and Skatt are all kind of like-minded, you know what I mean? So they just came in running their mouths and I’m like this is a littele different, this aint how other rookies came in, this aint how I came in.” Burns said.

Burns then spoke on how Dart’s confidence energized the entire team. Burns knew it was clear that the Giants had found a guy and a future leader for the Giants. “So Dart had confidence out of the jump, he just lets his confidence just breathe, it just exudes over the team, and like you just said, he’s talented, bruh, he’s an electric player, so that gets us hype.” Burns concluded by saying.

Dart played some solid football in his rookie season, and the best is yet to come. Injuries may have been a concern this past season, but when he was on the field, Dart’s play brought excitement towards the Giants’ future with him at the helm.

Dart had a QBi Score of 76.5 (C) according to PFSN’s metrics, ranking 18th out of all eligible quarterbacks.

Dart is highly skilled and very confident about it, all things teams yearn for from a franchise quarterback. Is Dart the future of the quarterback position for the Giants for years to come? Burns and his teammates certainly seem to think so. The rookie has already earned the respect of his teammates and fans alike; now it is time to translate this into wins in the near future. With Dart at the reins, the Giants may be a team to look out for in 2026.
