The nightmare season for the Las Vegas Raiders is almost over. The Raiders brought in Super Bowl champion head coach Pete Carroll, Pro Bowl QB Geno Smith, and added Ashton Jeanty to their team. They weren’t supposed to be this bad, but they are. They are on their way to picking No. 1 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft and could very well move on from Carroll after one season. Part-owner Tom Brady looks to have a plan for a new staff.
Tom Brady’s Idea for Potential Staff in 2026
Brady is a winner. There’s no doubt about that one. With his seven Super Bowls, he knows what it takes to win in the NFL. Looking to turn the Raiders around, Brady is rumored to be working on a potential new staff to replace Carroll in Las Vegas. Carroll is getting old, and the game looks to be getting away from him; a fresh voice with a new quarterback could be the best course of action.
According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, Brady is targeting Vikings DC Brian Flores to be the head coach of the Raiders and bringing Brian Daboll to be the offensive coordinator. Flores was a part of four Super Bowls with the Patriots on their staff, and Daboll was there for five of them. Although they weren’t the top guys in the New England operation, they are high up in the landscape now and are prime candidates for the job.
This would be quite the staff. Flores and Daboll got chances to be head coaches, but didn’t have much success. Daboll was fired this season after a 2-8 start with the Giants, but showed some offensive promise with rookie QB Jaxson Dart.
Meanwhile, Flores, being fired from the Miami Dolphins, spent a season as the Senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach in Pittsburgh before heading to Minnesota as the defensive coordinator and leading a dominant unit.
Flores has been an elite defensive mind for Minnesota and has worked his name back into head coach conversations. It has caught the eye of Brady, and he looks like he’s more than interested in giving Flores the keys to the franchise in Las Vegas. The Raiders are going to need to start over. Their offense sucks, ranking 31st in PFSN’s Offense Impact score, and their defense isn’t good either.
Getting Daboll and Flores would give the Raiders specialized minds on both sides of the ball. Brady is becoming the major decision maker of the Raiders’ ownership group, and he’s calling the shots. Carroll’s days seem to be numbered, and a potential star-studded staff could be on its way to Las Vegas to turn the franchise around.

Raiders are not hiring a head coach in a current lawsuit with the NFL. Period.
