The New England Patriots continue to power through a dominant season behind a breakout second year from quarterback Drake Maye. He has surpassed 4,000 passing yards, putting him among a select group in franchise history and lifting the production of those around him. Tight end Hunter Henry has been a significant beneficiary, ranking second on the team in catches and receiving yards. He turned in another strong outing in New England’s 42–10 rout of the Jets, earning a $250,000 contract bonus, his second incentive payout of the season.
Hunter Henry Earns $250K Bonus in Patriots’ Week 17 Win
Performance incentives are a key part of many NFL contracts. Henry’s three-year, $27 million deal, signed in the 2024 offseason, is no exception. Henry carries a base salary of $6.65 million this season and has now added $500,000 in bonuses through performance incentives.
Under the terms of his contract, Henry earns $250,000 bonuses for reaching 50, 55, 60, and 65 receptions during the season.
Henry triggered his first bonus in Week 16 against the Baltimore Ravens, recording six catches for 35 yards and a touchdown to surpass the 50-reception mark. He cashed in again on Sunday against the Jets, hauling in three receptions for 49 yards and a touchdown to reach 55 catches on the year.
Through Week 17, Henry has totaled 55 receptions for 712 yards and seven touchdowns, with the yardage marking a career high. He currently ranks 14th in PFSN’s Tight End Impact rankings, earning a 79.7 score and a C+ grade.
The Patriots will host the Miami Dolphins in the regular-season finale, with the AFC’s top seed still at stake. That means New England is expected to play its starters, giving Henry a realistic shot at another bonus. He needs five more receptions to unlock his third incentive.
Henry was initially selected in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the then–San Diego Chargers, where he spent five seasons recording 196 receptions for 2,322 yards and 21 touchdowns. After not being re-signed, he joined the Patriots in 2021 free agency on a three-year, $37.5 million deal.
