When the Green Bay Packers hit Lambeau Field on Saturday night against the Baltimore Ravens, quarterback Malik Willis will be leading the offense. Starting quarterback Jordan Love will not be playing.
Willis started his NFL career with the Tennessee Titans, but he is now set to be the point man for Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.
Breaking Down Packers QB Malik Willis’ Playing Career
Before entering the NFL, Willis played sparingly at Auburn for his first two seasons. When Willis transferred to Liberty for two years, he significantly elevated his game.
At Liberty, Willis threw for 5,122 yards, 48 touchdown passes, and 18 interceptions. He showed that he could run an offense effectively, and the Titans liked what they saw. Willis was a third-round pick by Tennessee in the 2022 NFL Draft.
While with the Titans, he played sparingly for two seasons. In his rookie season in 2022, Willis, now 26 years old, started three games, going 1-2 as a starter in those contests. He finished 31-of-61 passing for 276 yards, no touchdowns, and three interceptions. Willis appeared in just three games in 2023, all in relief, going 4-of-5 passing for 74 yards, with no touchdowns and no interceptions.
He then joined the Packers in the 2024 season. Willis appeared in seven games, starting two and winning both contests. He went 40-of-54 passing for 550 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.
Heading into Saturday night’s game, Packers wide receiver Christian Watson was spotted wearing a Tampa Bay Lightning jersey, perhaps preparing for what could be a cold night at Lambeau Field.

Willis will be making his first start of the season on Saturday night against a Ravens team that appears to be playing out the string. Ravens starting quarterback Lamar Jackson will not be playing, meaning Baltimore will turn to Brett Hundley under center at Lambeau Field.
According to the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metric, the Packers hold an impact score of 82.8, grading out to a B-.
So far this season, Willis has appeared in three games. He is 12-of-14 passing for 134 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. Willis entered last week during the Packers’ 22-16 overtime loss to Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. In that game, he went 9-of-11 passing for 121 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions.
On Saturday night, Willis hopes to play at a high level and deliver a victory for Green Bay in front of the home crowd. Love will be cheering him on from the sidelines.
