Washington Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota started the game well on Saturday against the Philadelphia Eagles at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md. However, in the third quarter, he had to leave the field due to an injury.
What’s Happened To Commanders QB Marcus Mariota?
After opening the second half with the ball, the Commanders had to punt the ball back to the Eagles.
When Mariota came off the field, he headed to the blue tent along the Commanders’ sidelines. Then, Fox Sports cameras caught Mariota jogging back to the Commanders’ locker room with Washington medical personnel along with him.
NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo had an update on Mariota’s condition. He wrote on X, “Commanders QB Marcus Mariota was evaluated for a concussion and cleared. Still questionable with a hand injury, though.”

The Commanders are hoping to pull off an upset win in front of the home fans over the Eagles, but Johnson threw an interception that helped set up the latest Philadelphia touchdown.

As the fourth quarter opened up, the Eagles had a 14-10 lead. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts hit tight end Dallas Goedert in the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown. Philadelphia kicker Jake Elliott, who missed two official field goals in the first half and one miss that was negated by a Washington penalty, hit the PAT for the Eagles.
Then, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley added another touchdown early in the fourth quarter to extend Philadelphia’s lead.
Mariota did come out of the Washington locker room just before the fourth quarter started. But Fox Sports cameras caught him sitting on the bench. It didn’t appear to look like Mariota was going to be ready to come back in when the Commanders got the ball back.
According to the PFSN NFL QB Impact metrics, Mariota has an impact score of 75.0 and grades out to a C. With Philadelphia now up 21-10 after the Barkley touchdown, Washington fans will have to wait and see if Mariota comes back in at all.
